Tetrathlon Mini Regionals/Internationals Report

We departed early on Saturday morning to join the central England team for the mini-International championships at Oxstalls, near Stroud. This was a big competition that would definitely stretch Harvey, but he seemed to take it all in his stride.
Harvey had a good shoot scoring 820/1000
He had a strong swim, coming top for Central England boys and 10th out of all the mini boys, he was also asked to represent central England’s relay team of 4 swimmers and swam to impressive relay leg- central England were in the final and were pipped to the winning spot by Ireland!
On Sunday was the start of the CrossCountry, this XC course was awesome but brutal, it was very technical with tight tricky lines, off set doubles,  a 1.2 m bank drops, bounce steps to a 3rd jump on top of the hill, big 80cm log jump straight into water with second element on a tight tricky line out! In total out of all the 125 riders there were only 9 clears (all Irish clears!!)
This was a course Harvey has not experienced before and is unlikely to see again outside Tetrathlon- but what an opportunity to ride such a course and thankfully at there were a number of L options (which still present a lot of ?s too!)
Harvey was nervous at the start and had a difficult start as his awesome pony Pink was a bit too spicy and didn’t want to go in the start box, but once under way he rode a superb XC, getting round and completing the course – which was no mean feat! 🤩 but with a few run outs and taking L fences Harvey ride score was not counted.
Then last event was the run- Harvey went out strong and ran a 3.37 / 1000m which is a pb and he came top for the Central England Boys💪 7th out of all the Mini Boys.
With a strong ride score he would be dangerous!!!
The level of this event was inspiring, and Harvey has learnt loads, on our drive home late on Sunday night, Harvey was chatting all the way about the cross-country course saying how he would ride it differently, how he wanted to ride it again and he would ride it more confident.
We had a wonderful Tet weekend, met some awesome people, course walked 2-3 times, partied on Saturday night and it was a joy to spend 1-2-1 time supporting Harvey all weekend, he has learnt so much!
