Whaddon Chase PC Show Apr 2024

Saturday’s show was fairly quiet with Flamstead entries on the low side enabling new partnerships to cut their teeth competing quietly and existing ones to train.

Flamstead’s single star entry for the 40cms class was with Cecily Dalton on Coco and they kicked of Flamstead’s jumping nicely, wizzing clear to get individual second place !

The 50cms had double trouble with both Dalton sisters and Florence and her new super star partner, Crispie, rode a smart clear to third place and Cecily had an unfortunate four faults on coco but still scored in the top 20. Great riding from those two.

Sadly we didn’t manage a team for the 60cms but our two entries rode beautifully with both Florence and Crispie and Valentina and Mickey riding steady clears to get them 5th and 6th placing in the class.

Lyra and Marmite kept the Flamstead individual placing going by putting her foot down and riding clear at 70cms and coming 8th in the class. Valentina and Mickey took an unlucky 4 faults but still came in the top 20.

Rory Laing and Roxy had a lovely calm and controlled individual clear in the 80cms and Lyra and Marmite flew round and would have been untouchable if it weren’t for loosing a pole.

The 90cms was a tough one but ridden really well by our only finisher, Rory Laing and we look forward to seeing this partnership in the future as they’re beginning to gel. Hats off to Molly Batizovsky who was an inspirational figure of calmness and patience as her new horse tested her in the ring. All in all, a mixed bag of a show and really good SJ competition practise.
