Winter Tri Finals Report
Winter Tri Championships – Competition Write-Up
On Sunday, Jess, Josie, Penny, Harvey and Hugo all lined up in Grantham for the Winter
Tri Championships after successfully qualifying earlier in the season. The atmosphere
was buzzing from the moment they arrived, with icy temperatures to start the day the
Juniors were first out on the run track while the Seniors headed straight to the shoot,
setting the tone for a fast and fiercely competitive event.
Each of them brought determination, grit and brilliant team spirit, proudly
representing Flamstead PC and Area 12 as they tackled the swim, shoot and run in
various orders against the strongest athletes in the country. The final scores were
incredible — some of the highest seen at a Winter Tri, with scores of 2700 still reaching
down to 50th place, simply amazing.
The team delivered outstanding performances across the board. Jess, Penny, Harvey
and Hugo all achieved PBs in their runs, and Josie knocked 10 seconds off her Area
12 Tri time.
• Harvey stormed through his 1500m in a blistering 5:31, taking 8 seconds off his
PB.
• Hugo had a powerful run too, slicing an impressive 18 seconds from his PB.
• Jess delivered a superb run, improving her PB by 28 seconds!
• Penny clocked a fast 6:06, shaving 1 second off her Winter Tri PB from last year.
In the swim, the PB (personal bests) streak continued:
• Jess improved her swim PB by 8m, completing 9 lengths + 14m in just 3
minutes.
• Harvey added 12m to his PB, only just missing the touch at 8 lengths.
• Josie came within 1m of her PB, finishing with 9 lengths + 15m.
Our Area 12 Senior team of Josie, Jess, Grace (OBH) & Alex (HH) secured an amazing
8th out of nearly 20 teams, beating the likes of Area 8, Area 9 (Beaufort area) and Area 7
who are all incredibly competitive Tet areas – Well done!
I’m incredibly proud of all our athletes. Each of our five triathletes gave everything in
what was an exceptionally impressive Tri Championships, the best of the
best!!!. Having five qualifiers from our pony club is an amazing achievement.
Congratulations to everyone!
