National Winter Triathlon Championships 2025
Well done to Josie, Penny, Charlie and Harvey who all qualified for the Winter Triathlon Championships that took place in Grantham on Sunday!
The weather was bright and mostly sunny, with a keen breeze for the run phase. The combination of an 18 lane target range, an 8 lane pool, and a proper 400m athletics track allowed the numerous competitors to rattle through their phases at quite a pace. We were all done competing by 2.45pm, with the prize giving following soon after.
All of the Flamstead competitors secure PBs or very close to their PBs at this event, which is awesome and a testament to the high level of competition at this Championship event.
For Josie, she had to manage the change in discipline order but did this with ease. She swam first getting 9 lengths 10m then ran on a track getting very close to her PB 6.09 and lastly shot 880 placing Josie in 15th position.
Penny had a great shoot securing 900, she had a very strong swim and run too securing PBs, Penny’s run was 6.07 and she swam of 9 lengths 8m securing 19th place.
Charlie shoot had improved from his last competition getting 700. He had a great run securing a PB at 6.11 and another PB in his swim of 6 lengths 12m, even with loosing his googles as he dived in!!
Harvey shot a 640, this was low for Harvey, and I think competition nerves got the better of him. So, he had to make up for it in his run, which he did brilliantly getting PB and a sub-6-minute 1500m run! Harvey’s run time was 5.37, he also got a PB for his swim with 7 lengths 9m.
It was a super day that was extremely efficiently organised by the National Tet Committee and great to meet up with so many friends and tet families!
