Pony Club Regional Champs – Volunteers Needed

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all to the Pony Club Regional Championships here at Kelsall Hill. As you’ll appreciate, an event of this scale simply wouldn’t be possible without the fantastic support of our volunteers, and we are asking for your help to make this year’s championships run smoothly.

We would be hugely grateful if each branch could put forward a handful of volunteers for each day of competition. Roles will be needed across:

  • Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th – Dressage and Show Jumping
  • Monday 25th Eventing

There are a variety of jobs available, from stewarding and arena party roles, to score collecting and general event assistance. Any help – even for part of a day – would be greatly appreciated.

As a token of our thanks, volunteers will receive vouchers or a bottle of wine at the end of their shift.

We’d be grateful if you could let us know your volunteers’ names, contact details, and preferred day(s) as soon as possible so we can finalise the rota (admin@kelsallhill.co.uk).

Thank you in advance for your support – it really does make all the difference.

Winter League Show Jumping

The winter league season is fast approaching. The WL competitions are show jumping competitions run from September to February. There will be about 6 competitions run by each branch that takes part. At each competition, children collect points for themselves and in a team for the branch. There are individual and team prizes for each competition as well as overall throughout the season. Each competition will be advertised on the weekly email, if you are keen, keep an eye out.

The classes are:

  1. 50/60cm – 9 and under age on 1/1/25
  2. 60/70cm- 9 and under age on 1/1/25
  3. 70/80cm- 13 and under 1/1/25
  4. 80/90cm- any age
  5. 100- any age

All the rules are online on the Area 5 website.

If you would like to be part of the WL please enter your child in the competition, then let Mari know the name of the child and pony, and class entered. Once all entries are in, Mari and Sian will put the children into teams. Please see the selection policy on our website.

There is training organised for the children who will be competing at the WL. If you are interested, please let Mari know first to see if there is space in the appropriate group. Once payment is made, your space will be secured.

If you attend any training or competitions, you will have to help at our competition on 16th of November at Northop so please put the date in your diary and bear this in mind before entering the training or competitions!

It is a fun way to keep going through the winter and it’s great to see the children progressing through the season. If you have any questions, please ask Mari or Sian and we will be happy to help.

Champs – Results

The Flint and Denbigh Hunt branch were well represented at the championships held at the JCB championships held Offchurch, Bury.

Well done to Emma who had a wonderful two days in Champs. Emma and Lady gave it their all in the heat with an unfortunate pole in each round, but Lady jumped her heart out in the 105cm.

Lili Ritchie entered the mini major competition at the champs and came 8th overall.

The junior H&P care team of Ffion, Anwen and Jess came 8th out of 50.

The mini team of Alys, Seren and Lyla did well but not placed. Alys and Ffion were both nominated for commendations for answering well.

Lleucu competed in the chairman’s cup PC 100 Horse trials. She had a double clear over a very tough technical course finishing 21st out of 60.

Huw represented branch in both SJ 110 & HT.

Thea also represented the branch in the HT 100 clear XC but an unfortunate 8 faults SJ and came 22nd.

Well done to all of them as it’s quite an achievement to qualify.

Thank you to the trainers and also to the parents that encouraged and supported them to get there.
