Grassroots Regional Championships 2025

Horse Trials

Our Horse Trials teams did exceptionally well, finishing 4th and 5th overall.

Well done to the team members – Angharad, Marcus, Meelie, Alys, Megan, Catrin and Zoe.

Jonjo and Catherine also competed in the 80cm horse trials, Jonjo finished in 10th position.

A huge thank you goes to our trainers Louise, Victoria, and Richard Carruthers for all their hard work preparing our members so well. Thanks also to the wonderful organisers at Kelsall for running such a smooth and enjoyable event, and of course to our dedicated parents for their tireless support throughout the Championships.

It was a busy and exciting few days, and we are proud of all our riders for their efforts and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Show Jumping

A great weekend was had at Kelsall Hill for the Show Jumping Grassroots Championships. On Saturday we had 2 teams competing in the 70cm. All riders jumped 2 great rounds. Ffion and Megan got through to the jump off after jumping 2 clear rounds. Megan had a pole but Ffion jumped her third clear of the day.

  • F&D Black were 4th out of 26 teams – Ffion, Meelie, Ella and Angharad
  • F&D Reds were 5th – Alys, Megan, Catrin and Max

We all headed back on Sunday morning for the 80cm SJ Champs. We had 2 teams again today. All riders jumped fantastic rounds over 2 testing courses. Catrin, Angharad and Jonjo jumped double clears. Out of 26 teams there were only 3 teams on clear, and we were one of them! The 3 teams had to go into an exciting jump off against each other. Our riders all went in and road fantastic rounds. Our little team looked tiny and very young compared with the other 2 teams.

  • A podium finish for our team in 3rd place for Megan, Alys, Catrin and Angharad.
  • Jonjo did 3 clears and was super speedy to come 9th out of 122 competitors.
  • F&D Black came 7th – Jonjo, Ella, Ffion, Catherine

It was a busy but great weekend to be part of the Flint & Denbigh PC. A special thanks to Sian for walking the courses with the children and warming them up. Fantastic team spirit and excellent riding from all our members. Llongyfarchiadau mawr pawb.

A big thank you to Louise and Bethan for supporting our teams and helping all weekend. Without you we wouldn’t be able to have these great days. All the members and parents are very grateful.

Now on to winter league!! Entries are open for the first competition. If you are entering your child, please let Mari know your child’s name, pony name and class entered.
