Dressage Update

The sun was shining for our Winter League Dressage competition at Northop on 2nd November and we had record entries across the day. Flint & Denbigh members were out in force and were all turned out impeccably and rode very well. The classes were big and we had some good top 6 placings.

Walk Trot – Oliver Parks 1st and Alys Evans 4th
Grassroots – Belle Hudson 5th and Megan Evans 6th
Novice – Zoe James 4th
Intermediate – Isobel Miller 5th

A big well done to these members and to everyone who competed.

Thank you to everyone who helped on the day, our volunteer support makes these events possible, we could not run them with out you so thank you to all involved in making the day run smoothly.

The next dressage competition is to be held at Swyn y Mor and run by the Anglesey Branch. As well as Winter League the Spring Festival qualifiers will be included in this event so please support this competition. Entries are open now and will close on 19th November. Go to the Area 5 Pony Club website for the link to entries and let Becky know which classes you have entered so teams can be organised.

Dressage training with Stena Horner at Fferm on Saturday 22nd November is still open for booking. We have shared and individual lessons available so please book with Becky via email dressage@fndponyclub.org.uk. This is a great opportunity to run through your test and get ready for the next competition.

North Shropshire Triathlon Wrekin College – Results

On the first Sunday of half term a crowd of our younger F&D tetrathletes traveled to North Shropshire to compete at their triathlon at Wrekin College. It was a beautiful location with wonderful facilities for shooting, running and swimming.

Our members did their very best and came away with some great results including lots of personal bests.

This is a lovely friendly competition. All competitors in the younger classes were given an award at the prizegiving regardless of placing to recognise their effort. The Tiddler classes also give the younger members an opportunity to compete at a full triathlon as they are allowed to swim widths in the shallow end and use swimming aids if needed.

Out of 28 teams our F&D Daffodils team (Zoe, Catrin, Alys and Megan) were first, and F&D Dragons (Joseff, Ioan, Finley and Anni) were 7th.

Individual results:

Mini girls: Zoe 1st with Best Run, Catrin 2nd with best shoot and best swim.
Tadpole boys: Joseff 2nd with best swim.
Tadpole girls: Megan 1st with best shoot, swim and run, and achieved a spectacular 1000 in the shoot. Alys 2nd.
Beanie boys: Finley 1st with best throw and swim and joint best run, Ioan 3rd with joint best run.
Beanie girls: Anni best run.
Tiddler boys 6y.o.: Harri 3rd, Hugo 5th
Tiddler boys 4 and under: Austin 1st best run and throw, Ifan 3rd, Twm 4th
Tiddler girls 4 and under: Zara 3rd, Esmay 4th
Biathlon: Pippa 2nd

There is another triathlon at Wrekin on the 15th February 2026.

Winter League Show Jumping – Results

It was our turn to host the WL on Sunday and it was a great day for all. Bethan, Catherine and Ruth had worked hard to ensure a great competition was organised. On the day all our fantastic committee and members pulled together to help, and give all the branches a fun day. Our older members were great role models for our younger members. It was lovely to see all the members working together and enjoying helping and being involved. We all enjoyed staying to watch our older members jump the huge courses at the end of the day!
