Area 5 Dri Tri – July 25th 2026 at Mostyn
It rained !!!
Flint and Denbigh were very well represented at this lovely low key competition aimed at young or inexperienced Tetters. Unfortunately the much needed rain came during the ride and we were forced to find coats/jumpers etc but it did not dampen the atmosphere. The competitors were all tiny people on tiny ponies ! supported by many proud parents / grandparents etc.
The shoot / bean bag phase went without incident. Joseff James (FnD) scored an amazing 920 shoot. Well done Joseff. There were 37 competitors 25 of whom were Flint & Denbigh ! There were biathlon/triathlon classes for everyone. Ten classes in all.
A strong class was the Beanie boys and this was won by Ifan Johnson (FnD). Austin Larminie (FnD)was second with a super 1340 ride score.
- Albert Lofthouse (E.Ch) with a top shoot of 940 and fastest run of 3:34 won the Mini Boys
- Zoe James (FnD) won the Mini Girls with a good shoot and excellent run of 3.40.
- Joseff James (FnD)won the Tadpole Boys class with a 920 shoot and fastest run of the class – 4.09 while Ioan James (FnD) came 2nd.
- Anni Morgan (FnD)came 3rd Tadpole Girl but I must mention Nansi Evans(FnD) who came 5th with the highest XC score of the class.
Full results are on Pony Club Results.
The riding phase was a mix of SJ and XC fences. In the 40cm class, riders could go on Lead rein or off or have an assistant in the arena for a fixed penalty. It transpired after the presentation that ‘who did what’ was not being conveyed to the scorers consistently. So, some of the results were not quite correct but have now been rectified. We apologise for this.
Thank you to John Gilbert who came for the day to support us. John is standing in as our Area 5 Rep. Much appreciated.
CONGRATULATIONS are in order to
Zoe James, Megan Evans and Catrin Morgan who have been selected, along with 6 others from Wales, to compete in The Stepping Stones Tet at the Champs in August in Offchurch. They will be in one of two Wales & Borders Teams competing against Scotland, Ireland and England.
They will have a great time and we wish them Good Luck.
