Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care Competition
Calling all Pony Care and Badge enthusiasts!
It’s Blue Cross Care time of year again! The Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care is a Pony Club team competition. Members are placed in teams of 3 and will visit 10 stations (or stables!) to demonstrate their knowledge of different aspects of horse and pony care. Some stations will involve demonstrating skills on real ponies (such as tacking up and bandaging), others will be theory questions but all will have some practical element. It’s a lot of fun and the winning team for the area then get to go to the Pony Club Championships to compete in the final against 50 other teams across the UK! Last year our junior team came 8th in the final and the year before our minis made it to 2nd place and had so much fun at the championships.
We are now looking for members to make up this year’s teams. Mini members have to be 10 or under on the 1st January (with one under 8 needed per team). Juniors are 13 and under on the 1st January (with one under 11 needed). The Area competition is to be held at a centre in Chester on 28th June, and we would also be running around 5 practice sessions beforehand to brush up on our skills. (You may achieve an extra badge or two as well!)
Please email Suzanne (badges@fndponyclub.org.uk) if you would like to be involved this year. All are welcome to come along and learn some skills in the practise sessions and teams will be selected before the competition date!
