Where Are We?
Glossop Pony Club is located at Hargate Hill Equestrian Centre in Glossop SK13 6JL. Here we have access to two large all weather outdoor arenas for our summer training and competitions and in winter we use the indoor arena. Additionally, Glossop Pony Club has a purpose built classroom know as “the hut” where we hold weekly theory lessons and meetings. What do we do?
At Glossop Pony Club we hold regular weekly ridden lessons on a Friday night, these include flatwork, jumping, mounted games or a combination of these, we also hold other training as pole work or desensitisation clinics etc. We hold weekend rally’s, the cornerstone of the Pony Club, where members get to work on their ridden skills as part of a larger group and work towards their progressive awards. We have weekly theory lessons at the hut for members to improve their equestrian knowledge over a large range of topics and work towards achievement badges. Events, Competitions and Fun
Glossop Pony Club also hosts a number of events throughout the year including Halloween, Christmas, Easter fun and presentation evening. Not forgetting the 4 day Pony Club Camp held at Somerford Farm! We host a number of competitions throughout the year which are open to members and non-members. Additionally, members of our pony club represent Glossop PC at a number of Pony Club Area and Winter League competitions throughout the year, sometimes qualifying for the regional and national championships! What to Wear
At Glossop Pony Club we request that members attending theory or ridden sessions including rally’s, where the Pony Club uniform. The Uniform consists of:
- Riding Hat (to current PC standards)
- Glossop Pony Club jumper
- White Shirt
- Pony Club tie
- Jodhpurs (dark colours acceptable)
- Riding boots (jodhpur boots or long riding boots); yard boots and boots with thick tread are not permitted.
- Gloves are optional but are not permitted for mounted games
- Pony Club metal badge. This must be worn with your jumper except for in mounted games.
- Body protector (see Body Protectors) is optional except for eventing, cross country or pony racing where a body protector is mandatory.
- Long hair must be ties back and, for safety reasons, not plaited. The use of hairnets is encouraged and is
mandatory for rallies. - In cold/wet weather a waterproof coat without a hood or the hood tucked in is acceptable.
- In hot weather jumpers may be removed but shirts must be long sleeved
