Mini Champs – 2021

Well that’s a Wrap! The Minis were out today at their Championships completing the Summer Season.

It was a tough day for the Eventers who all did lovely dressage and show jumping rounds however, the XC course caused a lot of trouble today which meant that the team wasn’t placed but Maddie Caunt finished 8th in her section.

In the dressage the HHN Team finished an excellent SECOND with Darcie B 3rd, Evie S 5th, Maisy T 5th and Holly P 8th in their respective arenas. Aurelia C finished 8th in her arena and was part of a mixed team which won.

The Show Jumpers completed the day. The team was unplaced, however Darcie B jumped a couple of fabulous rounds to finish just out of the placings. Harry M and his pony Jack were on fire! They jumped super clears in both rounds and so went forward to the jump off. Harry rode beautifully and pulled off some lovely turns to be SECOND! Well done Harry – I was extremely proud of the way you rode!

Area Horse Trials 25th July 2021

The HHNPC Eventers were out in force today at the Area Horse Trials at Iping.  The weather was always going to add to the challenge today.  Fortunately, despite a bit of light rain in the morning the 100 class was mostly dry and our only 100 competitor Hattie C was on top form, doing a good dressage test and then completing one of only 3 double clears to finish a fabulous FOURTH!  Very well done Hattie and Tom!  I swiftly moved on to the 90’s with Lydia K, Holly F and Marnie H all completing lovely tests and jumping excellent rounds. Unfortunately, Holly had a frustrating mistake on the cross country on an otherwise super round which just kept her out of the placings, but Lydia flew round within the cross country time to finish THIRD and Marnie and the fabulous Amber were totally on fire to WIN and qualify for the National Championships!  The weather forecast was not good for later in the day but the sun was still shining as the 80s started with 10 combinations due to compete throughout the class.  The HHNPC Hurricanes (Aneka W, Dotty M, Karina C and Matilda C) all did good tests with Aneka and Karina show jumping clear and Aneka, Dotty and Matilda jumping clear on the cross country.  The HHNPC Tornadoes (Esther T, Katie F, Lauren B and Poppy T) also did very good tests and moved on to the show jumping where Katie and Poppy jumped clear rounds.    It’s at this point I’m blaming Sarah Mosse for the team names.  We had all 4 of the Tornadoes out on the course as the most extreme weather started..  The rain was biblical, with thunder suddenly overhead and flashing lightening.  Bless our lovely horses and ponies!  All of them were amazing and jumped superbly despite the atrocious conditions they had found themselves in.  Sadly, both Esther and Poppy had small errors out on the course – largely weather induced as the conditions were suddenly so dreadful, but Katie and Lauren managed amazing clear rounds.  No other combinations had been started and as Lauren came through the finish, we were all instructed to evacuate back to our lorries and trailers.   Eventually the deluge stopped but by this point the ground had deteriorated so much that it was felt that it was not possible to continue the competition and so PLAY WAS ABANDONED with no results awarded.  Very sadly individuals Natasha C and Lauren C who had both done excellent dressage tests and were very high up the leaderboard after dressage did not get the chance to jump.  A real shame for everyone but lovely to see the huge amount of support our members gave each other and the willingness to help.  I was extremely proud.  Hopefully there will be discussion among Area 13 DC’s and Head Office to allow some of our members to go to the championships.

Cowdray Team Show Jumping – 3rd June 2021

Cowdray Team Show Jumping has always in the past been the first big outing of the year for our Show Jumping Teams and is always held on the Thursday of Summer Half Term so it was lovely to be back out competing again with full Hambledon Hunt North Teams (a fabulous 22 children represented the club today) following the disappointment of its cancellation last year.  Our riders and ponies/horses were all turned out immaculately and looked stunning.  I was very proud to receive several very complimentary comments!

I think it is safe to say we had a very good show!  All our members and their ponies/horses jumped beautifully and in big classes, the results backed this up.

Chiddingfold Farmers Pony Club One Day Event 5th May 2019

A super start to HHNPC’’s Eventing Season at the Chiddingfold Farmers PC One Day Event at Coombelands today. Well done to Issie B, Megan A, Rose A and Alice Burgess and Megan W who rode in the 90cm class. Not in the placings today but some very promising performances. The 90cm team of Jake M, Tom M and Clemmie F finished a fabulous FOURTH in the team competition out of 16 teams. Both Jake and Tom also won best dressage in their respective arenas (Wow boys!) with Tom finishing THIRD individually and Jake FOURTH individually overall. Eleanor Smith also had a great day, competing at 90cm for the first time and finishing a very pleasing EIGHTH. In the 100cm class, Ella M tackling this level for the first time on her mare Earth Star finished a superb SECOND. The day concluded with the 80cm class with Lauren B, Elouise N, Millie H, Indie J, Esther T and Millie H representing the club. No team placings today, but again some very promising performances. Individually Elouise N finished SIXTH and Millie B finished FOURTH!
