Health & Safety Notice to Parents
Many of our specialised training sessions now take place with very small groups of members, sometimes in 2’s, with 1 instructor present. In the interest of the safety of both members and instructors, we request that parents stay for the duration of the training session. If you are unable to do so you must nominate another responsible adult to do so, please.
MOUNTED ALL-DAY RALLIES
Usually 11 am til 3 pm, or in consecutive groups in the winter at Grafton. These Rallies are held during holidays, and are suitable for all, lead rein upwards will include flatwork, working in a ride, jumping in most cases, and a choice of other activities depending on the venue including mount games, and stable management.
Our all-day rallies are Tack & Turnout will be Judged for the end-of-year presentation awards to members are required to make sure they have clean ponies, tack and are turned out correctly. More information on what to wear for rallies can be found here.
DRESSAGE RALLIES
Our dressage rallies with Nancy Rollings are held at Stoke Court, with the kind permission of Mr & Mrs Nesbitt every other Wednesday evening. Sessions are typically either 30 or 45 mins and 1-3 riders and suitable for D test riders upwards. They are a great introduction to Dressage and very popular with members during the summer who represent the branch at area competitions.
EFFICIENCY TESTS & TRAINING
Ludlow Pony Club members are encouraged to take Pony Club Efficiency tests throughout their time in the club, The benefits of completing the training and tests are fantastic and members learn to look after their ponies unaided as well as receiving a certificate and the all-important coloured felt to go behind their badges.
Training and tests are taken throughout the year, usually in school holidays. For more information please contact test co-ordinator, Lorna Walsh or Chief Instructor Rosie Thomas.
ROSIE RALLIES
Everyone loves a Rosie Rally! They are suitable for all members of all abilities from lead rein to A Test. A Rosie rally is usually a one-hour session, with a group of other members with similar abilities and includes flatwork and jumping.
Rosie is our chief instructor and we encourage attendance at these rallies in order that she can monitor your progress and advise instructors at rallies and camps of your level and to assist us in ensuring you are in the correct rides.
SHOW JUMPING RALLIES
Hannah Jackson is Show Jumping Co-ordinator for The Pony Club and holds monthly rallies specialising in show jumping so if you are trying to perfect your jump-off turns or gain confidence over a course of jumps, Hannah Rallies are perfect! Suitable for all heights from 1’6″ and usually located at Pound Green Equestrian
COMBINED TRAINING
If you are working on both flat work and jumping and enjoy a mix, Harriet’s combined training rallies at Stoke Court are great. Harriet works on all aspects of riding and these rallies are suitable for all members and abilities from lead rein up. Harriet has small groups, usually of 3 or 4 members.
KATHY RALLIES
Kathy Rallies are popular with members still on the lead rein or just off the lead rein right up to the C+ test. They are 45-minute sessions of only 2 to 3 members of similar abilities and are great for building confidence on both the flat and over jumps and help develop general riding skills in a variety of disciplines.
TETRATHLON DATES
Shooting training sessions are usually on a Thursday evening
