Rosie Thomas

Rosie Thomas is a 5* eventer who competed at Burghley, Badminton Luhmuhlen, and many more!! When she’s not eventing or teaching our members she loves producing young horses and taking them up the levels.

Rosie was a keen member of the Ludlow Hunt Pony Club going all the way through the system and passing her A test. Along the way she learned a lot and now as chief instructor gets to pass that knowledge and experience on to all of our members teaching all levels from lead rein to advanced.

Q & A with Nancy

Tell us about your first pony?

Name: Jonty

Height: 11.3hh

Colour: Grey

Tell us about him/her:

Typical Welsh, he loved doing all pony club activities and he took me to my first BD regionals at the age of 12. We finished in the top 10 and although he was the smallest in the class he made up for it in the prize giving!

Your current horse:

My current horse Wellbeloved aka Wishful is a 16.3hh Bay mare, 19 years old now and we did our first Inter 2 just before Christmas! She is fabulous if a little sassy at times. Her favourite thing to do is to go galloping up the Brown Clee Hill! I also have a younger mare called Peaches who has recently started her ridden life so I’m super excited to progress through the levels and have some fun with her!

Best Pony Club Memory:

I’ve got lots of amazing memories from PC but I think one of my most memorable ones would be at a PC rally with Nicola Yarnold teaching in the indoor arena at Kyre. We were doing chase me Charlie and it was just myself and Lydia green left in. The single pole kept getting higher and higher and little jonty kept jumping. In the end mum was so nervous she said I had to stop because jonty could have gone underneath the pole easier than going over it.

Favourite Competition or Venue:

The Pony Club Champs have always been my favourite. A whole week of different disciplines to see and so much support from fellow team mates and PC friends.
