Mid Surrey take part in 2 quizzes each year. They are:
The Pony Club Quiz is sponsored by Dodson and Horrell
The Pony Club quiz is an inclusive competition providing a chance for members to test their equestrian knowledge in a fun and friendly team environment.
The competition comprises of a Mini and Junior/Senior competition simultaniously:
- Mini Section- Teams of four- Ages to be 10 years and under on the 1st of January of competition year, with one member to be 8 years and under.
- Junior/Senior Section- Teams of four- must have two junior members ( ages to be 13 years and under ) and then two of any age up to 25.
Blue Cross Horse and Pony Care Quiz
Looking to test your knowledge and practical horsemanship skills? This competition features teams of three members, designed from the Pony Club Efficiency Tests over a number of rounds.
The Quiz feature three levels: Minis, Juniors, and Seniors:
- Minis – You will be tested on your knowledge of the Care section of the E, D and easier parts of the D+ Test cards and Mini Horsemanship Achievement Badges. At the Championships, you will face questions that cover all of the D+ syllabus.
- Juniors – You will be tested on the Care section of the D, D+, C and easier parts of the C+ Test cards and Horsemanship Achievement Badges. At the Championships, you will face questions that cover Advances Achievement Badges and all of the C+ syllabus.
- Seniors – You will be tested on the Care section of the C+, B and AH Test cards, with questions at AH Test level used sparingly as not all Branches/Centres will have AH Test level competitors.
The competition involves moving around different ‘stations’, each of which will comprise of a different theory or practical based topic. You will spend ten minutes at each ‘station’, where you will be asked questions to be marked by the Assessor. Points will be allocated per section, with one round to be chosen, at random, as the ‘tie-breaker’. In case of a tie, the Team with the highest score in that particular round will be declared the winners.
