JCB PC Championships

Tetrathlon

Shooting:

Max pulled one shot when a moth unexpectedly landed on his ear, but other than that he, Tilley, Louise and Helena shot well considering the size and buzz of the occasion.

Swimming:

The competition then moved to a nearby leisure centre for the swim phase, where Louise swam a PB.

XC:

All 4 of our members came through the finish on a full up, technical Tetrathlon XC course, for some the most challenging course they’ve ever tackled

Mid Surrey intermediate girls team will go into the final day in first place, with the Area 11 open team including Max in 6th place.

Running:

They all put in a great performance across the hilly course that they had ridden the day before, including having to run through the water jump.

Our intermediate girls managed to hold on to their overnight position to be crowned Intermediate girls team winners!

Max’s Area 11 team with Evie and Marcus placed 6th in the open competition

Dressage

Open:

Jess and her pony Gethin represented Mid Surrey in the Open Dressage competition.

This involves a 7 minute test judged by 2 separate judges at C and E. They performed a lovely test, scoring an impressive 63.59% at what is a new level for this partnership.

Novice:

PC Champs started for Mid Surrey with a lovely dressage test from Ashleigh and Polestar in the Novice championships, where they finished on an impressive 64.2%

Showjumping

90cms:

Team of Poppy, Louise, Allegra and Helena. In the first round the team finished on a score of 4 with Allegra and Helena posting clear rounds. In the second round Allegra and Poppy posted clear rounds with a team score of 4 faults.

The teams final position was a credible 15th out of 67.

Allegra and Robbie, having jumped double clear in the teams event, went forward to the jump off in the main JCB arena , finishing in 25th

Eventing

Chairmans Cup:

Eloise Kitchener represented MSPC in the Chairman’s Cup – a 1.05m Championship Class with the format of a trot up prior to the dressage phase, followed by XC and then SJ on the final day.

Eloise & Alfie flew through the trot up and then Alf managed to keep a lid on his excitement, while performing in front of crowds and marquees, for a good dressage test of 35.5. The XC course was big and technical and caused problems for many (36% didn’t complete). Eloise and Alfie made a super start but unfortunately Alfie didn’t like the look of the very big and spooky ditch at fence 14 and they had to call it a day. An amazing feat to qualify & tackle a very tough track.

Special mention for Eloise for being a fantastic role model for the younger members competing in the 90 and 100 classes. Through the highs and lows of the event, she was the ultimate competitor – always smiling, sensible and with her horse’s welfare at the fore.

PC 90:

Allegra Driscoll represented MSPC in the 90 Individual Championship, producing a fantastic dressage test for 22.0 (a personal best for Allegra) followed by a double clear with just 0.4 time penalties to finish fantastic 3rd in their section.

PC 100:

Team of Tilly Hutchings Campbell, Hollie Heath, Libby Gallie and Izzy Jordan

Wow! What a performance. Very tough competition, 33 Teams qualified for this National Championship and the standard was high.

All four girls produced good dressage tests with a couple of poles SJ on a course that was short on clear rounds leaving them in 19th place after the first 2 phases.

Then came XC! The course was a serious Championship course with some difficult questions from early on in the course and some big fences. The MS Team put in an outstanding performance with Tilly, Hollie and Izzy all coming home clear within the time. Libby just had one stop at a difficult combination but otherwise a good round. The shot up the rankings to finish in 8th place which is an absolutely fantastic achievement.

Izzy also finished 10th Individually in her section.

Mini Quiz Team

An early start this morning for our two mini teams who headed to the JCB Horse and Pony Care Championship at Offchurch to compete against 47 mini teams.

Gina, our DC, met us on arrival and we enjoyed the buggy ride to the far side of the park where the competition took place.

The championships were challenging, we didn’t get placed but were so proud to be competing alongside other disciplines. Once we finished and waited for the results we watched Mid Surrey members compete in the dressage and loved cheering them on.

Overall, we will remember these Championships not just for the good results but for the fantastic Team spirit, with the girls all supporting each other throughout the competition and later celebrating together!

Special thanks to our DC Gina who stayed through the whole event to support and help the girls. There was definitely a great Mid Surrey Team presence and spirit at the PC Champs this year and all the girls did a fantastic job representing our Pony Club.
