Rallies @ Minchinhampton
Rallies are group lessons that cover different aspects of riding and pony care at all levels and are open to all our members. We organise an exciting programme of rallies throughout the year – for more details go to the calendar page of our website.
Rallies enable members can access first-class coaching at reasonable prices by attending lessons with our qualified Pony Club-registered coaches. Members work on specific disciplines at some rallies, such as dressage, show jumping, cross country, mounted games, or stable management and others are more general rallies. We also organise rallies to allow members to work towards The Pony Club Tests.
Our rallies are important social events where like-minded young people make lasting friendships. Unless specified otherwise, they are open to all ages and abilities. Members must have completed three working rallies since the previous July to qualify and represent Minchinhampton in Area Competitions.
Show Jumping is an exciting competition in which the horse and rider negotiate a course of obstacles within an arena. Rallies help our members to develop their skills and learn how to use the horse’s athletic ability and their skill to plan the proper lines and approaches to allow the horse to clear the obstacles. The jumps are colourful, of varying heights and widths, and can be easily knocked down. The goal of the horse and rider combination is to negotiate the course without knocking down a rail or causing disagreements between horse and rider!
We run show-jumping rallies throughout the year from 30cm to 110cm on both arena and grass surfaces.
Cross Country Jumping is not for the faint of heart but from a very early age we encourage members to have a go at this extremely exhilarating sport. We have our own cross country course where members have a gentle introduction into cross country jumping with small logs and carrots through to jumping everyone favourite the owl hole!
For the older members we organise rallies at a number of different specific cross country venues in the area taking experiences coaches to give first class tuition to the members.
The word ‘dressage’ comes from the French term, ‘dresseur’ meaning ‘training’ and adding just a few minutes of it into your daily routine can help in many ways.
Our dressage rallies are all about learning to work with your horse and help him achieve greater suppleness, flexibility and obedience; enhance his natural movements and ability and improve his athleticism. The exercises and work in the rallies is beneficial to all aspect of your riding.
We have a number of very successful members who represent our branch at national events for both Tetrathlon and Triathlon events.
Training takes place most weeks so come along and have a go at the different disciplines.
Mounted Games are a great way of gaining skills and confidence, these rallies are open to all members and are great fun for all abilities – the games can be practised in walk, trot or canter (which ever you prefer) and both on, or off the lead rein. It would be great to see a few more members coming along to see what is involved
We run a number of different rallies throughout the year for our members to work toward badges and the pony club tests.
