RESULTS AND NEWS

National Tetrathlon Championships 9-12 August 2018 at Offchurch Bury
Following her performance at the Area 9 Tet qualifier Betsy was offered a wildcard (thanks to the Beaufort Hunt Tetrathlon Manager, Alex Connors) to the Tet Champs. Betsy trained hard for all 4 disciplines and was thrilled to achieve a pb in both the swim and the run phases. The xc course was the biggest and most technical Rupert had ever seen, but Betsy made good decisions throughout the ride and they completed safely. The atmosphere of the whole event was brilliant: friendly, supportive, competitive and we were lucky with the weather. It was simply inspiring to be there – and it would be even better if MPC could take a team or two next year! We need everyone interested to sign up and have a go, so we can improve training opportunities which will encourage more participation and success…

Report from Area Tetrathlon 8/9 July
Several of the Minchinhampton Tet squad competed in incredibly hot weather at Area Tetrathlon hosted by the Beaufort.
In the Tadpoles, Freddie competed on a mixed team with new Tet squad members Sophie and Max. It was great to see them all at their first competition together and all of them did incredibly well. Max was placed 10th and with the others will be a great team in the future. A very special well done to Max and Sophie for completing their first Tet. In the Mini Girls, Martha was 6th with a strong run in the heat and very respectable swim and ride. In the Junior Boys, Ollie was 9th with a great ride, swim and run. In the Intermediate, Betsy was 8th with a great ride and good results in the other disciplines.

Everyone did incredibly well to coax their horses and ponies around tough XC courses in the heat as well as perform to their best in the runs. Well done!

Update – Betsy has been offered a ‘wild card’ place at the Tet Championships this weekend – ‘Good Luck’ Betsy!

Double wins for Minchinhampton at the Inter Area Tet and Junior Regional Tet Championships!
Over half term, Ollie and Eezie were chosen to represent Minchinhampton and Area 9 at the Inter Area Tetrathlon at Bicton in Devon and selected for the Central England team at the Junior Regional Championships at Moreton Morrell.

Bicton came first with lots of competition from South, South West and Wales Pony Clubs. Ollie managed a PB in his swim and run, together with a great clear over a tough, full up 90cms XC course with Eezie. His result contributed to the overall Area 9 team win, alongside boys from the Beaufort and OBH and OIlie was 10th individually.

After a quick kit wash overnight, it was off to Moreton Morrell with the Central England team. The competition was really stiff with teams from all over the UK and Eire. The XC course in particular was very technical with fences that would not be seen in a 90cms eventing course. Ollie and Eezie again did a great round and Ollie managed another run PB! With other team members from the Beaufort, West Warwickshire and Ludlow they were 3rd overnight after the swim and shoot phase. The ride and run proved decisive and the Central England boys were the winners! They received their prize from Tim Vestey, Tetrathlon Chair and Rhian Gibson, Pony Club CEO.

A great few days experiencing the best that Pony Club has to offer in terms of testing sport and building fantastic friendships!
