Summer 24 round up: a National Champion and summer of success
As we start to head into autumn, we look back on an excellent summer for OBHS, with superb results in all disciplines.
National Dressage Champion
OBHS is delighted that we have a National Champion in our midst. Leah was crowned National dressage CHAMPION at the JCB Pony Club Championship at Offchurch in August, an exceptional achievement and the result of many years of hard work. Sienna L also competed and came an 8th in her section – really impressive given that she and pony had only competed in dressage a few times before. Many thanks to Head Coach Anna who travelled up to support our members throughout the competition.
National Champs Showjumping
After competing at Areas in Addington in June, all members of our 90 and 100 showjumping teams qualified to compete at national level for the first time. We are very proud of their achievements at National Champs. Janie and Frank started with a double clear in the 90cm warm up class. They went on to have a super clear in the first round of the champs class and a couple of unlucky poles in the second round. Well done Janie at your first Champs. Hopefully the first of many!
After coming a brilliant 2nd at Areas in Addington in June our 100 SJ team of Aliyah, Emma, Kelly and Sienna L did a great job at Nationals. A few poles cost them rosettes but they displayed some great riding, full of promise for their future. The team came 22nd out of 47.
National Champs Eventing
After qualifying for nationals for the first time at Hambleden in June, Emma achieved an excellent result. After a solid dressage and SJ Emma on Murphy stormed the 100 XC to finish clear inside the time. This had them finish 19th in their section helping the Area 12 team to 12th place. What a fantastic result at their first championships. Congratulations Emma!
Regionals Showjumping
OBHS had a great day at Aston le Walls Equestrian Centre for team OBHS represented by Rory and Delilah (70 SJ); Natalie, Aliyah & Danielle (80 Dressage) and Emma, Millie, Danielle & Aliyah (80 SJ). All did really well with some challenging weather. Aliyah came 7th in her dressage arena and the 80 SJ team came 8th. Thanks to coach Michelle for supporting our riders throughout.
Regionals Eventing
Our eventers did not disappoint! With a XC course causing lots of problems all three riders came home with a place. Kelly (5th) and Janie (7th) in their sections in the 70 and Millie (4th) in the 70 plus. Well done to all. Thank you to our super DC Kim for all her support over the two days.
Areas Showjumping
Four members competed on a long and hot day at Addington and all four qualified for Nationals (see above for their results!). Our 90 team of Aliyah, Janie and Kelly finished a very creditable 6th. Aliyah and Kelly were then joined by Sienna L for the 1m team. This course was causing lots of problems but they all rode brilliantly to finish in 2nd. Very well done!!
Areas Eventing
With a SJ course that caused a lot of problems and a challenging XC course all 3 of our competitors did brilliantly to finish on their dressage scores and qualified for Regional Champs. Janie came 7th in her section, Kelly came 8th in her section, Millie came 1st in the 70+ section. Thanks also to super coach Michelle for her support.
Areas Dressage
The OBHS teams were out in force at the Area 12 regional dressage qualifiers. First up the prix caprilli team (Natalie, Janie, Millie and Chloe) came 3rd with individual placings for all 4 riders.
The PC70 team rode some nice tests but no places this time. Next the PC80/Grassroots team (Aliyah x2, Danielle and Millie) came 4th qualifying for Regional Champs with Danielle and Aliyah placing 3rd individually too. And then the open team (Sienna, Rose and Leah) came 5th as a team just missing out on team qualification but they will go to National Champs as individuals with Leah 4th & sienna 5th.
Thanks to super coach Anna Smallwood for all your warming up and test calling.
Vale of Aylesbury Interbranch Showjumping
A day of mixed fortunes Vale of Aylesbury Hunt Ponyclub inter branch show jumping. Some unhelpful weather and ground conditions but some great riding. Congratulations to Delilah and Rory qualifying in the 70, the 80 team (Natalie, Aliyah, Millie and Eloise) qualifying for Regionals and big congratulations to Natalie for winning the 80 individual.
SDHW Interbranch Showjumping
A long and successful day at Hickstead for Team OBHS. A lot of lovely rounds ridden from 50 up to 1m culminated in a win (and a second) for our 90cm teams as well as individual placings 4th, 5th, 6th for Aliyah, Janie and Kelly. 5th also for the 1m team with Emma in 7th and 7th for the 70cm team with 4 clear rounds posted. Thanks to Anne Sandford for advice and coaching.
