South Notts gets ready for Badminton
Well, that might be a slight exaggeration … in fact our youngest members tried their hand at a one day event. Eventing is a serious undertaking – we did tell one of the new members that they are called one day events for a good reason – the riders have to master dressage, showjumping and riding cross country over fixed fences and through water in one day.
Pony club classes start at 30cm for jumping with a walk and trot dressage test, children can be on a lead rein, assisted or ride on their own. Pony Club parents don’t need a gym membership as there is plenty of running and jumping for the leaders as well as the ponies.
Many, many professional eventers started their riding careers in Pony Club, maybe we will see some of these riders at Badminton in a few years’ time?
