Working Rally – Rider
- Long sleeved white shirt, with pony club tie or SPPC polo shirt or SPPC baselayer
- Beige or cream jodhpurs
- Pony Club Sweatshirt, or Rugby Shirt for older members 14 years + or Gilet
- Pony Club Badge
- Pony Club approved hat, black or navy in colour,
- Plain black or brown gloves
- Brown or black jodhpur boots or riding boots
- Plain Brown or black chaps
- Please tie back all long hair and secure it with a hairnet and plain or pony club scrunchie
- No jewellery is allowed to be worn.
Working Rally – Tack
- Clean
- Brown or black leather,
- Correctly fitting and safe (please check stitching, especially on reins and stirrup leathers)
- Stirrup irons should have 1.4cm width space once your foot is in the stirrup
- A plain white, navy, brown or black numnah or saddle cloth (no embroidery unless PC authorised/no contrasting piping/no names/no sponsors)
- Any clean boots your horse normally wears
- No diamante/coloured brow bands
Competitions – General rules
As above for working rally plus the following
Rider:
- Plain traditional jacket (tweed, navy or black) with pony club badge on the left lapel
Horses:
- Plaited
- Tack – correct for discipline
Additional Notes
- Hoodies – Hoodies are not allowed to be ridden in at any Pony Club activity due to the chance that injury could be caused to the rider by an object getting caught in the hood, e.g branches or jumps.
- Ribbons – A red ribbon may be put in a horse’s tail as a warning that the horse kicks, please give such a horse plenty of space to avoid any accidents. A green ribbon also warns of a young, inexperienced horse.
- Tack Condition – Please keep checking the fit and condition of your ponies’ and horses’ tack, stitching on reins and stirrup leathers is especially susceptible to wear and tear and should be replaced at the first sign of the stitching coming loose. You should be able to fit one finger either side of your foot within the stirrup, stirrups that are too small run the risk of a foot getting stuck in them in the case of a fall.
