My role is to plan and provide a range of training , fun activities and events for our members. Being in the pony club is great fun and a great way to make friends, learn more about all aspects of horse and pony care and riding. I am a BHS Stage 4 Coach (Eventing) and I have taught all aspects of horse riding and care for over 20 years.
I think riding should be enjoyable and all our coaches take pride in providing fun, interesting and challenging sessions that are varied and inspirational for all ages and abilities.
We have members from as young as 4 all the way up to 21!
In my coaching I believe in getting the basics right and spending time working on the fundementals. I apply this to all my riders even the youngest members. As a member of our ponyclub we will actively encourage members to have a go at everything before they decide to specialise in a specific area. Our training and working rallies include flatwork, polework, jumping and games. We also include working towards competition badges, bronze, silver and gold badges and the efficiency tests.
During the winter all of our training is mainly at Kenwick. We are very lucky to have access to this wonderful centre which has recently benifitted from brand new surfaces in both the indoor and outdoor arena, new LED lighting in the indoor arena and new fencing around the outdoor arena. During the spring and summer (weather permitting) we go to our ponyclub field at Hallington. We have a full course of show jumps and working hunter fences in the field and dressage arenas so we can get lots of practice for those all important summer shows.
We also like to visit different venues throughout the year including, Willow Banks, Hill House, Hoods Cross Country Course, Field Farm and many more. Please feel free to make suggestions for different training venues. Keep an eye out on our facebook page for regular updates.
Achieving the ponyclub tests is a really important part of being in the ponyclub. Tests start from the E test and go all the way up to the coveted A test. Test training happens throughout the year. I will let members know when specific test training will begin and when tests have been booked. More information on tests, badges and awards can be found on the ponyclub website.
Every August we hold our summer camp at the ponylcub field in Hallington. We encourage all our members to come to this. Its great fun, amazing memories are created and there is loads and loads of riding and swimming!
As well as the riding and pony care I also think its important for our members to spend time together socially. Camp is a great way to do this but its also fun to have lunch together at rallies, take part in Christmas and Easter fun days, come to our presentation evening and attend our unmounted rallies. This year we have done Equipilates which was brilliant. Future unmounted sessions include a plaiting and trimming workshop, a rider turnout workshop and a sports phsychology workshop ! If you have anymore suggestions please let me know. Cake is always welcome !
If you have any questions about anything please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help.
Keep an eye on the website and facebook page for updates on training and events.
