Our History

The Pony Club was born in 1929, but not all present branches started then.

In 1934 there were 103 branches, in 1947 there were 167 and now there are around 350.

Prior to 1971 the Taunton Vale branch covered the present Taunton Vale Harriers  PC area, and also that of the Taunton Vale branch, ie. there was only one branch covering the whole area. It was huge, too big to manage and not practical so it was split in two, initially the two new branches were called Taunton Vale West and Taunton Vale.

In the 1980s the Taunton Vale Harriers (Hunt) registered with the Masters of Foxhounds Association (having previously been a pack of harriers), and Taunton Vale West became known as Taunton Vale Harriers.
