If you are having riding lessons at a riding school or you have a pony but no transport, or you just want to be part of VAH, you are very welcome to join us as a non riding member. You will meet like minded friends, have fun and learn a lot about pony care.
Over the winter you can take part in triathlon competitions. You run, swim and shoot at targets, or younger children throw beanbags to score points. We train for the shoot and encourage children to practice running and swimming too. Triathlons are very sociable events and are a great way to make friends and keep fit.
Badge Rallies – we hold regular badge rallies where you’ll learn about a particular aspect of horse and pony care and if you do well, you’ll be rewarded with a badge!
Blue Cross Horse & Pony Care – members will learn and demonstrate their knowledge and practical horsemanship skills taken from the Pony Club Tests over a number of rounds. Teams compete at their Area Competition with the aim to qualify for the Championships.
The Pony Club Dengie Quiz – designed to be an inclusive and engaging competition, open to both ridden and non-ridden Centre and Branch members. It offers a wonderful opportunity for young people to come together, share their enthusiasm for horses and ponies, and put their equestrian knowledge to the test.
All members are welcome to join our many social activities – pool parties, BBQs and trips.
If you are 13 or over you can start the Young Equestrian Leaders Award, this rewards volunteering at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. Gold YELA holders receive their award at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The Registration fee for the Bronze award is included in your membership, just add your membership number.
