Welcome to the mini section of the Vine Pony Club! We hold regular rallies, fun-rides and events for our youngest members of the pony club. We take our members from riding on the lead rein up to cantering happily off the lead, showjumping a course at 45cm and riding cross-country at the wonderful mini course at Woodhouse Farm (by kind permission of the Pusinelli family).
The aim of the minis is to encourage children to have fun with their ponies, make new friends and gain confidence in both their riding ability and correct pony care. We introduce the children to all the different disciplines of the pony club and prepare them to become independent so that they are ready to move up to the junior section.
We hold frequent ridden rallies, always indoors during the winter months, as well as an annual Easter Egg Hunt, St Nicholas Christmas ride, fancy dress Halloween and Christmas rallies, fun rides, gymkhanas, and stable management sessions where the children work towards their mini achievement badges. At the end of every rally there is cake, drinks and even ice-creams in the summer! We have a great team of instructors who understand the need to emphasise the fun side of riding and pony ownership, as well as providing expert coaching to improve their riding skills.
The highlight of our summer is Mini Camp, consisting of two days of fun tuition and ending on day 3 with a show and family picnic where parents can see how much their children have grown in confidence. We have a dedicated trophy which is handed out each year the Best Mini Camp Member alongside rosettes and many prizes for all the children. The children also work towards gaining their E test whilst they are at Mini Camp.
