Summer Camps

There are three Pony Club camps held during the course of the summer holidays and for many children this is the highlight of the summer.    In the Spring you can register for all camps via the Rally Booking Page

All camps have pre-booked instructors who teach throughout, and the last day usually combines instruction or a small competition and prize giving.

All information will be emailed to members prior to their camp.

It is impossible to run these summer camps without the help of you, the parents and members. Everyone involved in organising the 3 camps, does so voluntarily. We are always in need of your support so please don’t feel you cannot offer to help because you are working etc, there are always jobs that need to be done whatever the time of day!!

All members wanting to attend any camp MUST have attended at least one mounted rally, since January. In July we put on Pre Camp rallies, which are ideal for those who haven’t attended camp before, and are also used to see new horses or ponies, so you get put into a suitable ride for your level of riding/experience.

Are you and your Pony Ready for Camp?

The Barn Equine Vets have provided a useful guide to what needs to be done on the run up to camp to get your pony camp ready!!

Main Camp

Main camp is a week long camp for children aged 12 – 16.

The children camp in tents etc with ponies in stables. Those participating in camp are able to make use of the wonderful facilities including a fully comprehensive cross country course. Ponies have it better, stabled in portables.

The day is broken down into morning and afternoon lesson, with their Instructor which include: Flatwork, Show Jumping, XC, Stable management, The off road hacking is great and we try and get members out enjoying riding in the coutryside with an escorted group hack.

In the evenings there are team games, talks, swimming and movie night to keep them all busy.

Parental help is expected if your child attends camp

Duties include; Day time assistant, Cooking meals, Setting up and breaking down arenas, show jump courses, before and after camp. Everyone is expected to clear up on the last day, before Prize giving.

There are Camp staff on site at all times but lots of help is needed.

THERE IS A TOTAL BAN ON ANY ALCOHOL, DRUGS, SMOKING, VAPING AT PONY CLUB CAMPS.

MEMBERS WILL BE ASKED TO SIGN THE PONY CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT FORM, TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS BAN AND ACCEPT THAT SHOULD ANY MEMBER BE FOUND TO BE IN POSSESSION OF A BANNED SUBSTANCE THEY WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE CAMP IMMEDIATELY AND NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN

Junior Camp

Junior Camp runs on a daily basis for four days with children expected to be mounted and ready to ride by 10 a.m. and finishing approx 4 p.m. Children are expected at this level not to need parental input throughout the day.

There are lots of activities from flatwork in an arena, jumping, handy pony, games, treasure hunts, stable management. Most years we have an afternoon of Pony Club tests D & D+, so you can see how far your children’s riding has progressed.

Some parental help is required but will not be with your own child’s group.

Mini Camp

MINI CAMP is for those children on a lead rein and are not yet confident riding on their own.

Like Junior this is daily. Mini’s day starts  with a picnic lunch on the first day.  The other 2 days will start at 10.30am and finishes at 3 p.m. It is essential that parents are available to help with their children.
