The Role of the Responsible Adult at Rallies

At Pony Club rallies, a Responsible Adult is allocated to each group of members. This role supports the coach and committee, helps sessions run smoothly, and ensures high standards of safety, welfare, and behaviour for both children and ponies.

The role is usually carried out by a parent or volunteer. All parents are expected to undertake this role occasionally. Responsible Adults will be highlighted in red when rally groups and timings are circulated ahead of each fixture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure droppings are cleared from the arena during the session (This task may be delegated to other parents if you are unable to poo pick.)
  • Check the skip is emptied into the muck heap if it becomes full
  • Ensure members have cleared droppings and hay from around horse boxes and trailers
    • If areas are left untidy after members depart:
      • Please ensure the area is left clean
      • Report details to the District Commissioner (DC)

Venue Care

  • Support good Pony Club etiquette so venues are happy to welcome us back

    • Parents should remain outside the arena unless asked to assist
