Congratulations to our members who represented the branch at the Regional Grassroots final at Eland Lodge. Dressage- Lyra Verity, Lucy And Hannah Jones, Sophie Gittus, Noah Marsh, Sophia Elliot and Zach Farnsworth.

Our teams finished just out of the placings in very competitive fields.

Day 2 show Jumping.  Zach and Sophie were both riding as individuals and rode brilliantly. Zach on Spenny produced a fantastic double clear putting him into an exciting jump off some 9 hours after his first round! Our Grassroots dressage team of Sophie Gittus, Megan Stephenson and Abbie Barker  travelled to the final at Eland Lodge where all three girls put up fantastic performances. Although unplaced the girls gained great experience for the future and had a terrific time. Sophie also qualified in the show jumping where she jumped a double clear going through into the jump off.  An unlucky pole kept her out of the prizes but as one of the youngest competitors on one of the smallest ponies she did brilliantly.

Congratulations to our Novice show jumping team of Saskia Brookes, Sophie Morice, Ellie McNeil and Charlotte Leighton who competed at the championships at Cholmondeley . Our girls finished a creditable 14th out of 37 teams, narrowly missing out on a top ten placing. There was a great team atmosphere which made for a terrific weekend. Holly Clayden rode as an individual in the intermediate show jumping competition doing brilliantly round a very stiff track in adverse conditions. Jewel was not keen in the deep going and had an uncharacteristic pole down but Holly gained valuable experience for the future.

What a busy weekend 22nd/23rd July has been with members representing the branch in Area dressage, Helena Crockett Eventing and Tetrathlon competitions across the region and in Area 6.  We have had much success and great fun, so a big thank you to our ponies and parents who have made this possible not forgetting our wonderful DC, Gill Chivers who is so supportive.  Please check the members page for full details of who has been up to what and where.

A huge well done to our show jumping teams who took part at the Area competition at Bishop Burton Saturday 1st July.  Our intermediate team of Nick Ireland, Charlotte Bumby, Ameila Brown and Holly Clayden finished second in the intermediate class with Holly taking second place individually and qualifying for the PC Championships At Cholmondely in August.  Our junior team of Sophie Gittus, Abby Barker, Lauren Hall and Lucy Jones finished on a team score of only four faults narrowly missing out on a placing in what was a very hotly contested class. Congratulations to Lauren and Lucy who posted double clears. Many thanks to parents and supporters who gave up their day to help the teams.

The June Newsletter is now available to read in Newsletter Tab.  We have a full and packed programme, so check out the dates and please book in with Gill in plenty of time.

CONGRATULATIONS to our DC, Gill Chivers, and committee member Dorothy Fell who both recently received their Cubitt awards.
The Cubitt Award is given to recognise 20 years or more of volunteering within the Pony Club and is made bi-annually for the whole of the UK. It was founded by the late Hon Guy Cubitt who was Chairman of the Pony Club for 25 years.
Gill travelled to Stratford where around 70 volunteers were presented with their awards from Lady Lloyd-Webber, the Pony Club President. The York and Ainsty South Pony Club are very proud of Gill and Dorothy, without whom the Branch would not function. Thank you ladies for all your hard work, it is much appreciated.

Many thanks to everyone who helped at the Area 3 Novice challenge show jumping we hosted at Port Royal Sunday 4th June. It was a fantastic day in all respects, made even sweeter by an individual win for Charlotte Leighton and Duo, and a win for our team of Sophie Morice, Ellie McNeil, Saskia Brookes and Charlotte. The girls have qualified for the Pony Club Championships held at Cholmondely Castle, Cheshire in August. Huge congratulations, this is a massive achievement.
