A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

YORK & AINSTY SOUTH BRANCH OF THE PONY CLUB

December 2023

Dear Members,

I hope everyone is keeping well, warm and dry and looking forward to a good Christmas and New Year! Details of the Annual Awards night in the Christmas holidays are later on in the Programme – please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to come as approximate numbers need to be confirmed with Stockeld Park. Please could those with trophies that were awarded at the 2022 Awards Night ensure they are engraved and handed in beforehand if possible or passed on to someone coming to Stockeld Park if you are unable to come yourself so they can be presented. A reminder of who has trophies – Attendance: Evie, Amber, Amelia, Queeva, Sophie G, Holly C, plus Hugo (shield). Show Jumping: Novice, Regional and Junior Teams plus Individual Trophies – Ellie, Lucinda, Harrison. Dressage: Novice, Regional and Junior Teams. Eventing: Novice and Regional Teams. Tack and Turnout: Poppy, Evie. Stumpy Cup: Hamish. Festy Cup: Sophie G. Best Endeavour: Verity. Reid Cup: Ellie. YAS SJ Team Plate: Amber, Martha, Gabriella M.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported and helped with the Branch Pleasure Ride in October. It was a beautiful day, without mishap, and enjoyed by all who came. We raised a good amount of funds and will be making a donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The first of the Spring Festival Area rounds – Arena Eventing – was held in November. Well done to all who took part and particularly Ella winning the 1m class and the mixed height team of Hamish (70), Amber(80) and Ella (90 and 100), who tied for first place and have qualified for the Final at Arena UK in February. Details of the Area Dressage and Show Jumping competitions are in the Programme. There are no longer any qualifying rounds being held, just Area rounds which are open to all. Zac, Amber and Ella continue to do brilliantly for YAS in PC Triathlons, either winning or being placed in their classes. This is a huge commitment with a lot of training involved.

Well done to all those who took part in the Junior Series Final at Bishop Burton, particularly our team in the 60cms – Evie, Lila, Elsa, Hamish – who finished 5th. They were very new to this and dealt with their nerves to do YAS proud!

The Area Quiz is to be held on Sunday 3 March at Norton, Malton. There are two different levels – Minis for those 10yrs and under as at 1/1/24, with one 8 yrs and under, and combined Junior/Senior with 2 x 13 years and under and 2 of any age. (teams of 4) The Minis quiz covers questions based on the Care and Riding sections of the E, D and easier parts of D+ Tests and Mini Horsemanship Achievement badges about Handling/Leading, Hoof Care, Yard Safety, Points of Tack, General care etc. The Junior/Senior Quiz is based on the Care and Riding sections of the D+, C, C+ and easier parts of B Test and achievement badges about Feeding, Shoeing, Points of Tack, Trees, Poisonous Plants, Rugs and Bandages/Boots, Worm Control etc.. Anyone interested in taking part, please let Gill know as soon as possible so practices can begin!
