We have just received an e-mail from PC to say they are running the Area Qualifier now on Sunday the 24th July (the day after the Area Dressage Competition) but they are urgently looking to get help to run the day particularly Fence Judges for the cross Country. It will be a long day being required around 9am (times to be confirmed) and it wont finish until around 5 or 6 o’clock as it is the Qualifier for both Area 4 and Area 5. It would be a good chance if you could make it though to see the standard of the Area Qualifier first hand. The event is going to be at Somerford Park. If anyone is interested and can definitely commit please let Gill Morrell know soon as possible giving your name & contact details (Email, Mob Phone etc)
Without enough volunteers the event can’t run so it would be brilliant if we could get at least 2 or 3 volunteers from Saddleworth. I do appreciate that a number of you will be helping Pat run the Dressage but if you can spare the day it would be very much appreciated. Please don’t volunteer if you are doubtful of being able to make it.
Training day at Turbury with Sarah on the 6th August. If people want to come can they contact Gill Morrell as soon as they can so that I can finalise costs but it is likely to be the same as last time £20.

In recent years The Pony Club has linked with the Racing to School charity through their Education Programme and we are excited about involving Pony Club members with an opportunity to be part of a new, free workshop being set up this year. It’s called The Riders’ Programme and is aimed at young people (14 years-old and above) who already have an active interest in horses, and perhaps horse sport.
It aims to provide fun, interactive and informative activities aimed at increasing participants’ knowledge and appreciation of horseracing. We also hope to encourage interest in the wide range of career opportunities available in the racing and thoroughbred breeding industries among those who are hoping in future to combine their love of horses with their working lives.
Working with The Pony Club team we are putting together:
•Itineraries and activities for visits by Pony Club groups to racecourses, studs and trainers’ yards
•Detail and guidance on racing industry careers
•Advice on applicable training routes for different careers and support with connecting to work placements
We would like to invite Pony Club Members to Haydock Racecourse on the 4th August to attend a Riders Raceday, where they will be given access to normally restricted areas of the racecourse during the morning before being able to see some live racing in the afternoon, parents are welcome to join their children for the activities if they wish. The event has a limited number of spaces which will be offered on a first come first serve basis.

Your club is run solely by volunteers who work tirelessly to run the events that have been so popular. With this in mind we need volunteers for our open shows as without volunteers to help we cannot hold such events, you don’t need to know anything about showing and you can be any age, so even if you can only do a bit after or before your classes we still need you!!
