Badges & Tests

The pony club training structure encourages Members to take tests and earn badges which enables them to learn progressively about horse & pony care and riding. Tests are taken at reccommended ages and are designed with certain objectives in mind, to help members become practical and knowledgable riders, proficient in caring for horses and ponies. The pinnacle test is ‘A’

The ‘A’ test is recognised worldwide . Several of our previous club members have their ‘A’ test, including a whole family of sisters – the Steven Family – Shelagh, Shonagh and Catriona.

Throughout the year we run training and tests for our members as well as stable management sessions at mounted & dismounted rallies.

Achievement Badges

You can earn Achievement Badges  at all levels of the Pony Club. Some members sew their badges on their sweatshirts, but you may also like to sew them onto a pony club fleece blanket. Within our club, we have members who have successfully achieved many Badges.

The pony club offers Mini Achievement badges for younger members, as well as equine and non-equine achievement badges. Both types of achievement badge will help you to learn a wide range of skills like first aid, farming, map reading, saddlery, road safety and grooming

Badges can be achieved throughout the year at rallies, stable management & camp.We have lots of resources to help you with Badge preparation.  You will find below virtual workbooks, for some of the achievement, mini achievement and Intro to sport badges.
