N.B. *For D & C Tests, Members are encourage to take the relevant Road Rider Achievement Badge – The Road Rider Mini Achievement badge is taken before the D test. The Road Rider Achievement badge is taken before the C test.

N.B. Members holding C+ Test (Horse & Pony Care) may progress to B Test (Horse & Pony Care), Lungeing and AH.  To take B Test (Riding), Members must hold the full C+ Test (Riding and Horse & Pony Care).

N.B. Members holding B Test (Horse & Pony Care) may progress to Lungeing and AH.  To take the A Test, Members must hold the full B Test (Riding and Horse & Pony Care).

C+ Test

To become an educated and practical rider.
To ride over fences at all paces.
To gain practical experience and knowledge of the care of a stabled pony
and of a pony at grass.
To be capable of riding a well-mannered pony out hunting and in all Pony
Club activities.
To ride intelligently and with due regard for others on the roads and in the
country, and with a knowledge of pace, distance and discipline when riding alone and in groups.

The cost of the C+ test is £50 per section/ £100 for the Full C+ Test.

To book in for the test you need to have sent in your nomination form a minimum of 8 weeks before your test. You need to ask your DC/Centre Proprietor to complete the form.

B Test 

To become an effective rider who knows the reasons for what he or she is doing.
To know the Scales of Training.
To understand the Scales provide a staircase of training suitable for all horses and ponies.
To be able to maintain a horse’s way of going.
To ride over fences at all paces.
To be able to ride well-mannered horses or ponies out hunting, in horse trials, or on an
endurance or fun ride.
To ride intelligently and with due regard for others in the country, with a knowledge of
pace, distance and discipline when riding alone and in groups.

Know how and be able to manage, work and care for a grass-kept or stabled horse/pony receiving hard feed, and gain practical experience of this.
To look after a horse/pony before, during and after a day’s hunting or competition.

B Test Training

B Test Care Training Online: 

Time: 6.30-7.30pm

February  Wednesday 28th
March  Wednesday 6th, 13th and 27th March

Practical on Wednesday 3rd April.
Max of 6 please

B Test Dates 2024

After Your B Test

After passing your B Test the next stages are:

– Lunging Test

– B+ Test

– A/H Test (A test Care)

– A Test

You can download the syllabi for these tests from the main Pony Club Website.

These tests need to be taken in the order above and those wishing to take their AH test need to take and pass the Lunge test in the spring of the year they intend to attempt their AH Test.

The tests and much of the training will be run on an area basis, rather than by individual branches and the Area 11 co-ordinator for these tests is Inge Bateman: Ingedb@live.com.  You will need to get your nomination forms in early and these must be signed by your DC.  Please do keep your DC aware of your plans. They should be accompanied by the correct payment via BACs.

The cost of the Lunge Test is: £45

The cost of the B+ Test is: £95

Nomination Forms for the AH Test should be sent to the Area Rep, Abby Bernard:area11@pcuk.org

The cost of the AH Test is: £180 for full test, £140 for 4 sections and £45 per section.

Nomination forms for the A Test should be sent to PC Headquarters.  Cost for this is £240, sometimes subsidised by the branch depending on their finances and committee decisions.

At Ringle Green Farm, Marsh Quarter Lane Sandhurst, Kent TN18 5NY.

Please arrive on the first day between 9 to 9.30 to sort groups out and be riding by 10. For any parents who need to get to work you can drop off anytime after 7.30!

Please bring all riding equipment and lunging if you are doing the lunge test or AH and feed for your horse

All lunches and food for you will be provided. There is hay here if you need it

Address is: Ringle Green farm, Marsh Quarter lane, Sandhurst, Kent TN18 5NY. Make sure you turn down marsh Quarter lane which very quickly turns into a farm track go down there about half a mile and the yard is on the right, take the second entrance into the yard.
