Well done to all at Petley Wood Arena Eventing again today, this time organised by Eridge Pony Club.  Individual placing for Ruby and Friend in the 70cms and a 3rd place team for Freddie (also 7th individual) Hope and Sophie in the 80/85cms.  In the 90/95cms class Fred was 3rd and Daisy 6th.  Amy was our only competitor in the 1/1.05M class and finished off with a win!  Well done everyone

A lovely friendly day out at RMPC Arena Eventing at Petley Wood.  Petley is a bit out of our area but its a pretty straight road from Hawkhurst and a nice venue with an enormous outdoor arena when you get there so well worth the trip.  We had members competing at all levels.

In the first class a WIN for Charles and his new pony and a 3rd place for Ruby was a good start to the morning.

At 70cms we have two teams, well done to new team members Sophie and Katie who were joined by Lauren and Millie and unfortunately were unplaced this time.  Sam, Holly, Isabella and Ruby had a good team score and were 2nd, with Ruby 3rd and Isabella 8th individually.

By the time we got to the 80cms class the new dyke was causing chaos, Rio and Sophie were one of only a few clears for FIRST PLACE, sadly Toby and Millie in her team had trouble at the dyke.  Our other team of Lauren, Hope and Red were 2nd overall, showing great determination to get to the end.  A great class with 4 1st rosettes for Ashford Valley!

If we thought the 80cms dyke was difficult the 90cm one was even worse!!  Only 2 of our team got to the end with Aidan and Georgie falling foul of the dyke, but Jess and Josie getting through it and being rewarded with a 7th and 8th place .  Thanks to Lena from RMPC who took lots of horses into the arena for a group practice so that they could leave on a positive note.

With some trepidation we stayed for the 1M class, several competing at this height for the first time.  Another WIN for AVHPC with Josie winning her first 1M and Aidan and Jess coming 7th and 8th too.  Lovely to end on a positive note.

The difficulty of the course added to the atmosphere of the day with lots of team support and cheers for each other as we got around the course.  Early sadness at elimination and falls was quickly turned into smiles as we realised that we were not alone in our failure to get around!

It was our Club’s first trip to the Blenheim Palace Pony Club 90cms Eventers Challenge competition.  After leaving school and work on the Thursday we headed around the M25 and up the M40, we stayed in tents and lorries whilst our horses were overnight in a small livery yard.  Although we were not due to compete until after lunch we arrived at Blenheim early to walk the course and do some horsey shopping.  Our lovely Chief Keely joined us for the course walk and we watched a few other clubs jump the long twisting course, which had a fast optimum time to contend with too.

We popped back to get our horses and plait up, back at Blenheim we had time to have another look at the course before we tacked up.

Amy and Cheeky were our trail blazers and set a high standard with a clear round inside the time, Daisy had two down, then Aidan followed with one down and finally Jess who also had a couple of fences down.  We were thrilled to get everyone round at our first attempt with no eliminations, no falls and happy faces all round.  It was so lovely to see our DC Pippa too cheering us on.

Goody buckets and completion rosettes for all were well received and after a long wait for our photos we made the journey home, full of hope for next year!
