MG in Warwick 3

Congratulations we are very pleased and proud of every one of you; those who went to Zones and those who have competed in our other MG teams this year.

Thanks to Emma and everyone who has helped you train, and your parents for their dedication in bringing you to team practice every week too.

1st May 2016

What a brilliant Prince Philip Games competition – where every rider did incredibly well.
The senior team of Daisy Parsler, Toby Channon, Olivia & Freddie JP. Even though they have not practised much as a team, they were on fire & really held their own under strong  competition. Olivia & Freddie, even starting vaulting during the competition, which really was a great achievement for them both. Daisy and Toby continue to get faster and more accurate every competition. They finished 6th a whole 10 points ahead of the team placed 7th!
The little Junior team, who are our youngsters Ann & George Orpin, Ruby JP, Viva Manzano & Florence Channon. They proved to us all that determination and trying really hard can make all the difference. These guys competed in all the games without any assistance and looked really great – so proud of them.
The Junior team, who were Sam Channon, Maisie Vane, Oscar and Ajay Howitt-Riley were outstanding – even with a few errors managed to be placed 2nd overall – a seriously good achievement. This team have certainly come along way and feel that they are seeing the results of a winter practising.

6th March 2016

Ashford Valley on the winning podium.  We had an incredibly successful day today with the mini team placed 2nd and the junior team coming 1st – a huge achievement.

They were all fantastic, all very accurate and very quick to rectify the very few mistakes.

The mini team (Sam & Florence Channon, Anne Orpin and last minute substitutes Oscar & Ajay Howitt-Riley, as poor Viva was ill) were amazing having not practiced as a team. They were only beaten by a team that were massively advantaged by being on the lead rein for the accuracy races. Florence and Anne remained independent off the lead rein and  only had help between the races.

PCC march 2016 2

The junior team (Toby Channon, Daisy Parsler, Oscar & Ajay Howitt-Riley) had very stiff competition, but by remaining accurate and calm they were incredibly consistent.

They made the final in all 7 events. They then went on to win very fast bending and  bean bag & table finals and finished 2nd in the majority of the other finals, never out of the top three.

PCC march 2016

All team members were happy to swap running orders according to their strengths and for the benefit of the teams.

They should all be very proud tonight, I am very proud of them!   Mel – Acting Team Manager

(Thanks to Mel Smith, Daisy’s Aunt and ex AVPC MG member, who has stepped in to help whilst Emma is recovering from the recent delivery of baby Rosabella)

7th February 2016

After many years without representation from the Ashford Valley Hunt Pony Club, we were thrilled with our results from our first team competition this year, where we had 3 teams.

We had our mini team with George Orpin, Anne Orpin, Viva Manzano & Florence Channon, they were up against other Junior teams. Lots of successes George managed to control his pony very well who was quite excited initially by the whole event! Anne & Florence were both very strong members and Viva even managed to canter for the first time. They were placed 12th – well done.

MG mini 160207

Our Junior team made up of Ruby Jefferson-Pillai, Sam Channon, Oscar Howitt-Riley and Ajay Howitt-Riley, really did themselves proud and through some serious practice, determination and incredible accuracy won their heat and went into the A final. Again, they kept their cool and came 3rd overall out of 12 teams. This was a huge achievement and each of them should be very proud.

MG junior 160207

Our senior team made up of Aidan McGinley, Daisy Parsler, Freddie Jefferson-Pillai and Toby Channon – were up against not only good senior teams, but teams that have competed nationally and internationally – so this was a big event for our quite inexperienced team. They kept their heads and in the B final, they managed to come 2nd in one of the races!! Again, accuracy made the difference for them. They ended up 7th overall – what an achievement considering the opposition.

MG 160207

Such a great result for all involved. We are really looking forward to more competitions coming up and really building on this foundation!

Well done all – Emma Team Manager

Thanks to Emma – An enormous thanks to Emma from all involved; her determination to ensure AVPC had their own team and helping each of the members learn the races, paid off fabulously today. Emma was at Bodiam from before 9am to 4pm helping each team at the start of their race and giving them last minute hints and tips.  All of this with less that a fortnight before her baby is due.  Huge THANKS from everyone, we really appreciate it!! x

** 22/11/15  Ajay & Toby came 4th in their finals heat, as well as Oscar & Sam came 2nd in their finals heat

Pairs Nov 2015 2

Well done to Toby & Ajay and Oscar & Sam who competed at the ESHPC winter pairs at Bodiam.  Toby and Ajay almost won their final by being careful and steady and were piped into 2nd on a points recount!  Sam and Oscar were very fast but made a couple of mistakes but ended up 4th.  Great time was had by all boys at a fun competition.
