FAQs

What should my child wear to a working or SJ rally?

Rally attire is a riding hat to the required standard with hairnet for shoulder length/longer hair, shirt with short or long sleeves (shoulders should be covered), PC tie, jodphurs boots with or without plain chaps (no tassels please) or long boots, plain jodphurs and The Pony Club sweatshirt. Clean tack and a groomed pony too please.  For winter evening rallies we do understand that its difficult to get grass kept ponies spotless!

**new** What about Cross Country rallies?

Ideally your child should wear the AVHPC baselayer instead of a shirt and tie.  The rest of the outfit is as for a working/SJ rally.  If you don’t have an AVHPC baselayer, a plain dark blue long sleeved t shirt is also acceptable.

What if I need to cancel?

Please let the organiser know with as much notice as possible as we often have a waiting list.  Unfortunately once an arena and instructor is booked its not possible for us to give you a refund.  A refund can only be given at the DC’s discretion.

UPDATED 28/2/17 Can I bring the dogs? NO PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO ANY PONY CLUB RALLY

Does my child need a body protector?

Body protectors to the required standard see here are mandatory for cross country (and pony racing).  It is your choice if your child wears them for show jumping and working rallies.

Air jackets at rallies

When an air jacket inflates the sudden noise startles horses in the immediate vicinity thereby causing difficulties for the other members of a ride if used in a group ride in a confined area, e.g. an indoor school or outdoor ménage. Air jackets are therefore not encouraged for group rides.
