Easter 2019
(If I missed anyone or you have more photos please let Julia know, thanks)
We started our half term with a mini arena eventing rally at Keely’s, much fun was had by our very smallest riders on the lead rein up to those jumping 70cms. We have another rally planned for 3rd May and hopefully we will have some photographic evidence of the fun this time.
Area 11 event training was attended by some of our members, here Millie and the legendary FP are deep in conversation with Ruby and Friend and instructor Martin Wright. Thanks to Area 11 for organising this at Comphurst Cross Country Course.
Our tetrathlon was held on 13th and 14th April, our junior boys team of Toby, Fred and Aidan were joined by Toby’s brother Sam who borrowed a pony from another member, the team were 1st with the boys 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th respectively. William made his triathon debut with a great 2nd place in the shoot, keep going William we need you! His Sister Lara did a lovely clear round in her section too. Lauren won the junior girls section and we were very happy to welcome Sophie to the tet family sealing her debut with the only clear round in the girls section, well done.
James and new member Boris represented us in the tadpole boys section, winning all the sections between them with an overall first and second place, awesome boys. Florence and new tet member Matilda were in the tadpole girls section, great clears from both girls and a 2nd place in the swim gave them 4th and 5th place, a great debut for Matilda and thanks to mum too for tack checking all afternoon. We are thrilled to have 2 teams of beanies led by the eldest team member Poppy who won the throw and swim section and was joined with Lilly, Jacob (Run winner) and Charlie as winning team closely followed by the 2nd place team of Harry, Boyd, Olivia and Sandy. Its fair to say that there were a few rosettes were handed out to AVHPC members that afternoon!
Thanks to everyone who helped, including those from the extended tet community in other branches and ex AVHPC members.
Dedicated stable management lessons have started just over the border in East Sussex, thanks to Shane for starting our learners on the right track to their E, D, D plus, C and C plus tests, more sessions are arranged and you can book them online.
We had a beautiful morning at Lodge Farm with Keely, 4 small groups meant that we all had lots of jumping time.
Our older teenagers Jess and Laura were lucky enough to have Keely to themselves for an hour, great fun and fences leapt over and down !
On Good Friday – Daisy and Melon made the trip over to East Kent to represent us in the Combined Training competition, a very impressive 2nd place in 90cm with a clear SJ and 32.70 in dressage.
Last but not least to finish with a flurry on bank holiday monday….
- A rally with Matt Selby at Denne Hill near Womenswold, a bit of a journey but some lovely fences, including a tricky water complex, ditch and an exciting warm up over the chase fences enjoyed by both the older riders and even the new combinations of horse and rider .
- And an Easter Egg hunt, in the glorious sunshine, with cute ponies, various fancy dressed children and lots of chocolate.
The week that was May half term 2018 …. It’s been a week of rallies. We have had members attending a successful eventers’ training day at Comphurst Cross Country. Excellent training over all 3 phases was delivered by our 3 coaches, Emma McGurk, Camilla Kruger and Penny Sangster. An educational day for all attendees. We have also had a polocrosse rally, a very well-attended unmounted stable management rally and a wonderful Mini XC rally. Thanks to our Chief for organising. We salute you…
LOTS OF ACTIVITIES IN HALF TERM….
Well done to Amy, Jess and Will who won the 1M class on Sunday at Southdown Hunt PC showjumping competition, with Amy 3rd and Jess 4th individually too. Congratulations
And finally on the last weekday of half term the sun shone, just in time for our polework rally
