May Day Open Show 2026
What a day! May Day Open Show 2026
We are absolutely thrilled with how this year’s May Day Open Show went — thank you to every single person who came along and made it such a brilliant day!
What a turnout! This year’s show welcomed over 200 entries from 38 horses and riders — a fantastic show of support that really does reflect just how special this event is to our West Cumbrian riding community. Dating back to the 1980s, May Day has always been a firm fixture in our calendar, and this year was no exception.
The day was packed with action across our showing classes — Best Turned Out, Equitation and Novelty — before riders headed into the showjumping arena to round off the afternoon. Whether you were competing, cheering from the ringside, or just enjoying the atmosphere, we hope you had a wonderful time.

Congratulations to all our winners and to every rider who took part — the standard throughout the day was superb and you should all be incredibly proud.
“It’s been a fantastic day and the atmosphere has been brilliant. We’re so proud to see this show going from strength to strength — long may it continue!”

A huge thank you
None of this would be possible without the generosity of our wonderful supporters. A massive thank you to our main sponsor AW Jenkinson, who provided rosettes, sashes and bales of shavings for our showjumping winners. Thanks also to Flizer Little and her business Berrymoor Sweet Cones for the sweetie bags which went down a treat with our first-place winners!
We were also delighted to have Shake Waffle and Roll on site keeping everyone fuelled throughout the day — the food was amazing as always. And a very special thank you to our landowner Andrew Kirkbride, whose generosity in allowing us the use of the land makes the whole show possible.
A big thank you to Dannielle Walker for judging — no easy task with so many competitors! — and to Emma Barrass of Let’s Get Snappy Photography for capturing so many wonderful memories throughout the day. Keep an eye out for her photos!
