Welcome to Juniors!
East Down Branch of the Pony Club has a thriving junior section. We have numerous rallies and events and we want to make being part of Pony Club as fun and educational as possible for younger members as well as encourage them to take part in team activities and learn to look after their ponies. East Down Branch is all about Fun, Friendship, and Horsemanship. Our catchphrase is “Go East Down!”
Rallies and Activities
Rallies are what we call the regular lessons with our experienced East Down coaches. Rallies are open to all members of the Branch. You will see that sometimes they are called “Working Rallies” or can be discipline-specific. Look out for any that say they are “open to all” or “suitable for juniors”.
We run regular activities for juniors such as rides at local venues (Hazeldene, Tullymurry, Riverhill, Tollymore, etc). Juniors can also take part in non-mounted activities, in particular relating to Pony Club Efficiency Tests.
Booking
Rallies can be booked via https://itsplainsailing.com/org/eastdown and generally close bookings around 4 days in advance of the date. They are advertised on our internal East Down Branch Communications Facebook page and on WhatsApp Groups. If you have not yet got access to this please speak to a member of the committee.
Cancellations will have to be paid for. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for each rally or activity and be ready for tack inspection prior to the rally start.

Assistant DC and Junior Team
Emma Newsam is Assistant DC on the East Down Committee.
Emma is hugely experienced and amazing and is the source of all kinds of useful information. Kimberley Davidson (ADC) looks after all branch communications.
Sarah Turley looks after Junior Efficiency tests.
Please remember that all our junior committee members have day jobs and calling or messaging after work and before 9 pm is the most polite way to make contact.
