Pony Club Quiz

A fantastic weekend was had by our Flint & Denbigh members at the Area 5 Dodson and Horrell Pony Club Quiz. We took two mini teams and two junior teams. The members had worked hard in the weeks before practising all of the quiz rounds and their work paid off with our junior team Freya, Ffion, Amber and Jess coming a very close second missing out on a qualification by only one point! The other junior team of Anwen, Betrys, Mali and Georgia came 7th with a very respectable score. Our mini teams did extremely well with Elis, Seren, lsabel and Alfie coming a close 4th (originally declared third but pipped at the post following a recount!), and our mini black team of Annie, Ellen, Lili and Elena did a fantastic job coming first and qualifying for the National quiz final! A huge well done to all of the members and a big Thank you to the parents, Louise and Bethan and Mari for allowing us to use Glan y Wern to practice!

Triathlon Report for 9th March

Flint & Denbigh Branch had 26 members forward for the last of the three Area 5 Triathlons in Mold on 9th March – that’s if we include our brave parent Gareth Lowe who had entered the Wrinklie class! Eleven were Beanies (don’t shoot) and they were in Beanie teams which have to compete against the older teams.

This competition was an individual qualifier for the Winter Triathlon Championships to be held in Grantham on 30th May and a number of F&Ds did qualify – hence the red bobble hats in the pictures – although not all wore them!

The competition was fierce and closely contested.

  • Orla Kissane qualified and came 2nd in the Senior Girls (Top run)
  • Casper Kissane qualified and came 5th Junior Boys.
  • Zoe James qualified and came 3rd in a huge class of Minis.
  • Catrin Morgan came 7th and missed qualifying by just 13 points.
  • Alys and Megan Evans came 2nd and 4th in the Tadpole Girls.
  • Anni Morgan came 2nd in the Beanie Girls.

We wish them the best of luck at the Championships in Grantham.

We had 2 shooting teams one of which came 4th – out of 25 teams. The team was Megan, Casper, Catrin and Zoe. Everyone came home with either a rosette or a medal.

Trophies were also awarded for the highest placed competitor in each class who had competed in all tree Triathlons.  Flint & Denbigh achieved 6 out of a possible 12 trophies! Winners were Orla Kissane, Zoe James,  Megan Evans, Finlay Eastwood, Tomos Bowen and Nansi Evans.

Simply brilliant.  Well done all.
