Rally Dress Code

The main aim of the Pony Club dress code is to ensure the safety and comfort of your child and pony. Newcomers are not expected to immediately arrive in branded clothing, similarly coloured items are perfectly acceptable.

We have a Whatsapp group dedicated to the trade of second hand items.

Brand new items are available at Hardy Equestrian.

All hats must be without a fixed peak and to the standards detailed below. All suitable hats will be fitted with an pink hat tag upon checking by a branch official, which will then be displayed clearly for the future. A plain navy hat silk, or the branch coloured silk may be worn.

 

  • When mounted at Pony Club activities, members should wear beige, cream, navy or black jodhpurs, with a branch T shirt, sweatshirt or coat(or similar)
  • Only standard riding or jodhpur boots (black or brown) with a fairly smooth, thin sole and a well defined square cut heel may be worn.
  • Plain black or brown half chaps may be worn with jodhpur boots of the same colour. Tassels and fringes are not allowed. No other footwear will be allowed.
  • Hair should be contained in a hair net.
  • Gloves to be black, brown, navy or cream.
  • Absolutely no hoodies to be worn when mounted.
    • Body protectors are compulsory for all Cross Country riding and Pony Racing whether it be training or competing. If a Body protector is worn for any Pony Club activity it must meet BETA 2009 Level 3 standard (purple label) or BETA 2018 Level 3 standard (blue and black label).

BETA 2009 Level 3 (purple label) body protectors will continue to be accepted at Pony Club competitions until 1st December 2024.

  • Tack should be clean and in good condition – no loose stitching and be a good fit.  Martingales require rein stops and a stop where the martingale meets the neck strap. Reins must not be so long that they hang in a loop near the rider’s foot.  Freejump Stirrups are NOT permitted. Stirrups should be of the correct size to suit the rider’s boots. They must have 7mm (¼”) clearance on either side of the boot. Plain brown or black girth with a plain saddle pad or numnah, ideally white or navy blue.
  • Jewellery, other than medical jewellery, a wristwatch, a wedding ring, a stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip, is not allowed. It is recommended that stock pins are removed for cross country.
