Rallies
We usually hold 2 rallies per month. These are typically Flatwork/Dressage or Show Jumping but also include Mounted Games and Cross Country as well as Efficiency Test Training Rallies – the latter being held during the winter months. These have a ridden element as well as a stable management session and train our members to pass the Pony Club Efficiency Tests.
At our rallies, you will be put into a group for a session of about an hour. Dates for these are posted on the calendar section of the website, along with details of venue, cost, how to enter each rally and closing date. We also send out email reminders.
Your first rally will be an assessment to see at what stage you and your pony are Then at future rallies we try to place members in groups of similar abilities.
We also run Rally Plus sessions for more experienced riders and Training sessions for team members.
Efficiency Tests and Progressive Tests
All members have the opportunity to work towards internationally recognised efficiency tests and progressive tests which test riding and stable management skills. The Pony Club Training structure encourages members to take tests which enables them to learn progressively about horse and pony care and riding. Further details on Pony Club tests can found here: https://pcuk.org/members/training/pony-club-tests/
Merchandise
All our Branch clothing and merchandise can be ordered through our supplier http://www.plopshop.co.uk/store/c7/Old_Berkeley_Hunt_%28South%29_Pony_Club.html
Summer Camp
During the summer holidays we hold a Residential Camp for members 11 years and over, a Junior Camp which is non residential for members 11 and under and a 2-day Mini Camp for our youngest members. We make this an action packed time combining riding instruction across all three disciplines, stable management, demonstrations, plenty of evening activities and most of all, lots of fun! (See Camp tab)
Teams
We take part in a number of team competitions during the year across all disciplines, from grass roots level through to being able to compete at the National Championships.
Branch Shows
Throughout the year we hold several Open shows; an Eventer Challenge at Rosehill in May and our Hallowe’en Show at BCA in October, as well as the Area 12 Championships. We appreciate as much support from our members as possible to help run these as we use the proceeds to offer subsidised training.
Friday Night Club
From Spring through to Autumn we run a bi-weekly session from 6pm which covers stable management areas for Efficiency Tests and Achievement Badges as well as fun activities.
