By doing mounted games you can develop accuracy, agility, coordination, teamwork and sportsmanship, all whist having a great time with friends and your pony. Sessions are friendly and encouraging with an emphasis on building confidence. All levels of riding benefit and everyone is welcome to participate for fun or go further and compete.
The OS&B mounted games team has been growing over the last few years with regular indoor rallies being held throughout the winter. Our rallies usually begin late October in preparation for the start of the season in early spring. We aim to enter teams into several friendly competitions before the Area competition which usually happens in May.
Equipment is supplied at our training sessions, but if you would like your own equipment to practice at home you can purchase equipment from PG Sports UK.
If you have any questions about Mounted Games, please contact our team trainer and discipline leader Melissa Cheeseman.
There is a OS&B Mounted Games WhatsApp Group for regular updates and discussions. Please let Melissa know if you would like to join the group.
Mounted Games competitions are split into three sections.
Friendly competitions are held during the season before the Area Qualifier which is usually held in May. The top teams from Area qualify for the Zone competitions. The top teams from the Zone qualify for the National Championships and the winning team for HOYS!
As a Branch, the OS&B has been very successful in Mounted Games, qualifying for Zone finals and Pony Club Championships with Senior and Junior teams many years in a row.
There are several mounted games awards which are presented each year at our annual prizegiving.
