Soham Pony Club ODE at Isleham

⭐️Soham Pony Club ODE at Isleham⭐️

The Puckeridge Hunt Pony Club was proudly represented in the 80 section by Harriett Hinton, Isabelle Eldridge, Poppy Lowe & Poppy Ashton. Despite a much cooler day than the day before, the riders still had to contend with Isleham’s trademark wind and a demanding course with a couple of tricky lines and steep hills to test both rider and pony’s stamina.

Harriett & Penny –
An unexpected fright during the dressage warm-up made for a difficult test, but they persevered and came through it brilliantly. They then went on to produce a fantastic clear round in the showjumping, and despite a tricky moment at the coffin on XC, they tackled the rest of the course with positivity and determination. A great start to Penny’s first run at this level – well done, girls 👏👏

Isabelle & Sprite –
A beautifully executed dressage test earned them a lovely score of 32.7, before heading to the SJ where they were unlucky to have just one pole down. XC was an amazing clear round — perhaps a tad too speedy 🚀 — including an incredible leap of faith from the pair, as shown in the photo 😱💪😅. This was only their second ODE at this level, and the partnership is really blossoming 🫶 Finishing ⭐️9th⭐️ with an overall score of 39.5 👏

Poppy & Squishy –
The dressage improves with every outing and, although Squish attempted a rather inconvenient pit stop 💩 midway through the test, Poppy kept her focus and still came away with a fantastic score of 32.3. A clear SJ round followed by a fabulous XC round, completing just 4 seconds under the optimum time 👌. Finishing in ⭐️5th⭐️ and on their dressage score 🎉

Poppy & Charlie –
Another great dressage test for a score of 33.3, followed by just a couple of minor faults in the SJ. Heading into XC, Poppy’s nerves had understandably been rattled after her last couple of events at this phase, but she dug deep into the confidence bank and we were all absolutely delighted to watch them steam (quite literally through sweat and tears!) over the finish line with an awesome clear round 🎉 It was an emotional moment, and we couldn’t be prouder . Excellent work Poppy 🙌.

It’s moments like these that highlight just how special our little club is — a family that supports each other through the hard times as much as the good times… although, together, they’re all great times ❤️
