Area 8 ODE Isleham

Area 8 ODE Isleham
PHPC headed off to Isleham for the area ODE. The 70 team – Poppy, Poppy, Belle & Emily got off to a splendid start with nice dressage tests and then all did the most lovely clear rounds show jumping. The testing but fun XC course was proving somewhat tricky but all the girls rode with great determination and all got round in great style. Even with a few faults they proved that by having a good consistent team you really can do very well. I think it’s safe to say that as well as having a fabulous day they all learnt lots.
A special mention to Poppy & Charlie who had a double clear and finished on their dressage score

Final results:
TEAM: 2nd

Section E:
3rd Poppy & Charlie
10th Poppy & Squishy
Section D
5th Belle & Taco
9th Emily & Ollie
They have all qualified for the Grassroots Regional Championships at Aston le Walls at the end of August

In the 90cm Section we had Hettie & Sophie but sadly no PHPC team. Dressage for these two is best when it’s done and dusted! Sophie & Rusty pinged round the SJ in great style with just one pole whilst Paddy did a bit more of a braille job with 3 poles. The cross country course was great and was catching several out but both ponies pinged around clear with their ears pricked just picking up a few time faults.
Final results:
9th Sophie & Rusty
10th Hettie & Paddy
Both have qualified for the Pony Club Eventing Championships at Offchurch in August

It goes without saying that days like this could not happen without a huge amount of support so we would all like to thank the following:
Soham Pony Club and all their volunteers for organising a lovely event and providing lovely courses on fabulous ground which the ponies much appreciated.
Caroline Marsh, Libby Railton and The Brunswicks for jump judging.
Amanda Malins for her invaluable guidance on the day, course walking, hand holding, warming up, encouragement and enthusiasm and now a list of things to work on before the champs!
All the wonderful parents, big sisters, pony club friends & family who organised, drove, made the picnic, plaited, washed down, advised, supported or just came along to enjoy the day.
To our DC Sarah & Sophia for being with us for the day. We loved having you both there.
And last but not least to all the wonderful ponies – they are all super special to give the children such fun and bring them home safely.
This was the penultimate Area Competition (just the Tet to go) and PHPC must be super proud that they have qualified for everything so far
