LATEST EQUINE FLU NEWS RE VACCINATIONS (23 April 2019)

Many venues used by The Pony Club are now requiring horses and ponies to have had a booster in the last 12 months (Brooksby Equestrian Centre included). The Pony Club vaccination rule states that no pony may attend a competition if it has had a booster in the previous 6 days so timing is key.

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) continues to urge equine owners to ensure their vaccination records are up to date. If it has been longer than six months since their last equine flu vaccination they strongly recommend that horses/ponies should have a booster.

From 1 March 2019, British Eventing updated their rules to say that all horses/ponies attending a BE event MUST have received an equine flu booster within 6 months of the event and it cannot be given on the day of the event.

British Dressage and British Showjumping are also currently advising 6 month boosters.

If you are attending any QHPC rally / event, please remember to take your passport (with the vaccination entries) as they will be checked

The BETA 2018 Body Protector Standard has been approved

The new standard, offering three levels of protection, is due for release to the market on 1 October 2018. It is a bright blue logo on a black background.  Pony Club will continue to require Level 3 for cross country.

The purple label 2009 BETA level 3, whilst eventually no longer sold will be accepted for use in competition by BE/BRC and PC for the next 6 years.  So if people have bought a new 2009 purple level 3 label, they should not be told they need a new 2018 one.
