Strathearn Pony Club Games Weekend 2024
Strathearn Pony Club Games Weekend
We held our annual Games weekend last month at Mid Powside by kind permission of the Wilson Family. We were very grateful to all those who travelled to the event and helped make it such a success. For many clubs it is the first outdoor team competition of the season and also an opportunity for the Scottish Games team to compete ahead of The Royal Windsor Hose Show. It was a shame the rain didn’t hold off on the Sunday, but we had two days of fun and great racing. Thank you to all the organisers, members, coaches, parents and supporters who help run our event to make it a great weekend for all.
It is however always a very poignant competition for one of our club families as it is the presentation of the Teresa Da Silva Cup, a Cup which has been very generously donated to the club by James, Jess and Ollie Garnett in memory of Teresa.
Teresa Da Silva passed away in May of 2021, a loving pony club mum to Jess and Ollie, life partner to James and a good friend to many of our members. She had herself ridden for Strathearn pony club back in the 1980’s / 1990’s and was an avid supporter of the club. Teresa enjoyed nothing more than seeing her children and their contemporise compete at events such as The Royal Windsor Horse Show, Horse of the Year Show and many local competitions. We were delighted that this year the trophy returned to Strathearn and very grateful in the knowledge that Teresa has left a lasting legacy for our game’s community.
