We like to field teams in Mounted Games competitions whenever possible. Games are ideal for younger members to learn balance and control. Sometimes we join up with members from other branches to make up combined teams, which is great for making even more friends.
Games are designed to test team work and accuracy. Its not always about speed pure speed – its more important to have control and not make costly mistakes. A missed handover or dropped object can make all the difference
And the secret to success is regular practice to get pony and rider used to the equipment and working together as a partnership
Bending is a feature of many games races. It is vital to learn to negotiate the poles at speed without missing one or knocking one over!
Taking infinite care not to drop any equipment in change overs is vital. It can make all the difference to the result
And so we practice and practice until everyone can do it at speed and hopefully without mistakes
