Finding Upper House Farm

Instructions for finding Upper House Farm are as follows.  Woodland is incredibly lucky to have use of this facility by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Trevor Swete.

PLEASE DRIVE VERY SLOWLY WITH CARE AND CAUTION. ANY COMPLAINTS OF MEMBERS DRIVING TOO FAST RISK BEING EXCLUDED FROM THE VENUE.

Please follow these instructions as your sat nav may take you up what we use as the exit route.  We would recommend visiting in a car before your first rally as it is single track lane.

The full address is

Upper House Farm

Harpsden Bottom

Henley on Thames

Oxon

RG9 4JF

Whether you come from Henley or from Peppard direction you will reach a triangle of land on the side of the road with a huge fir tree in the middle and a wooden sign saying Hunts Green. You turn up this lane and head up the hill. It is a single-track road.

PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY UP THE WHOLE LANE.  THERE ARE WALKERS, DOGS AND LIVESTOCK.

Keep going for as far as you can (Past Huntswood House and Oak Farm) and at the very top of the lane you will see Upper House Farm.  The house is to your right and there are some wooden gates straight head of you.  They are electric and open inwards to the yard.  You do not need to press the button as long as you have driven close enough.  Please do not try and drive through if they are shutting as they will shut onto your vehicle and break.

Drive through the yard on the right-hand side (beware of loose animals and children), past the arena on your right, up the track, through some double gates (if you are the first to arrive you will need to open them and pin them back) and drive through up to the field at the top.

Park on the left-hand side of the field, parallel to the cross-country jumps, with your nose or tail facing the hedge.

Unload and tie up your horse/pony safely. Please be ready to ride 10 mins before your start time.  Only members under instruction are permitted to ride on the site for safety reasons. Members on the lead rein must be led from the noseband or a coupling (ropes should not be put through the bit) and leaders should be wearing appropriate footwear.

Once you have finished your session, please dismount. Please keep to the field and the arena but do not enter the yard or the woods.  There is a porta loo on site.  Please clear up after your horse/pony before leaving and ask the instructor or committee is any of the equipment needs moving or returning.

ONE WAY EXIT SYSTEM

We use a one-way system for entry and exit. To exit the venue, follow the track back to the yard but turn right into the yard and head towards the muck heap (which you can see on your right-hand side).  Exit the yard via a double gate – opening it and closing it behind you- turning right onto the field track.  At the end of the track, you will reach another gate (which will be propped open) and turn left onto the lane.  Again, this is a narrow lane THERE ARE WALKERS, DOGS AND LIVESTOCK SO PLEASE DRIVE SLOWLY which leads back down to the main road at the bottom). Turn left for Henley or right for Peppard.
