mountedgamesArea Mounted Games 2023

will be held at Stratford Hills  on 21st May 2023 kindly hosted by Essex Farmers PC.

Area Mounted Games contact ( NNPC ) for our area if branches/centres want guidance with regards to games.
My name is Simon Duddy and I am currently volunteering teaching mounted games for North Norfolk PC. We were looking at hosting a mounted games friendly weekend the 12th and 13th, at Forest Edge Arena, but unfortunately due to Royal Windor Horse Show try outs and other mounted games organisations organising big shows, we have decided to scale down the event.

We are now hosting a mounted games study morning and gymkhana the 12th March at Forest Edge; details of the event I have attached to the email. The aim for the study morning is to go through the Area games to be played this year in a controlled environment, going through the races, tack rules and to answer any questions that may arise. The afternoon will be an individual gymkhana with four different age groups, so it will be open to all ages and abilities of pony club members. If the details could be added to the Area 8 page, it would be greatly appreciated.

In the past I have been a member with Essex and Suffolk PC competing in all different disciplines, but games were and are my passion. What I’m hoping to achieve is to get our area attendance with games back to what it used to be when I competed, so when my son is of the age to compete, he will hopefully have his own fond memories of Pony club games as I did.

In 2019 I was asked to provide a mounted games display at the Suffolk Show and after the success of the display we have been asked back this year. We have also been asked to provide a display at the Aylesham show and will be looking for Senior teams that would like to take part.

Kind regards

Mounted Games is a team sport that combines a love of ponies and friends with various races. Teams of four or five riders and ponies take part in a series of exciting and exhilarating races that involve a mix of turns, handovers, skill, vaulting and galloping against other teams.

Often ran on grass or all-weather surfaces, Mounted Games is an adaptation of Gymkhana and is great fun for you, your pony and your team. You can develop skills such as improving accuracy, agility, concentration, speed, hand to eye coordination, team work and sportsmanship whilst having lots of fun playing some imaginative games.
