What is dressage?
Well, to start with, it’s about basic flatwork – developing your understanding of your pony’s correct way of going and learning to use the right aids to develop a happy and confident partnership. In addition to this, it is about creating rhythm, suppleness and connection – essential for all aspects of riding. Dressage is the foundation for jumping and so everyone is welcome whether their interest is in pure dressage, eventing or show jumping. We welcome all ages and abilities – our youngest rider is nearly 3 and our eldest is 23 years old and riding at open level.
We are very lucky to have brilliant and experienced trainers and so are able to offer rallies at weekends, evenings and weekdays so hopefully there is something for everyone of all ages and abilities.
If you are interested in competing on a team then you can aim for the Area Competition which is for Novice, Intermediate and Open level and leads to qualification to the Nationals for winning teams and individuals. There is also a section for Grassroots riders with the top 4 teams gaining qualification to the Regional Finals at Rectory Farm – this is a good stepping stone for those looking to compete at the National Championships in the future. The Areas are a super day out for all whether winning or not with the picnic being a hugely important part of the day! We have a super team spirit amongst our riders and everyone is very supportive however the day went – number one rule is fun!
