Last weekend saw two intrepid members make the long trek up to Grantham for the PC Spring Festival National Dressage Championships.
Cesca B and her pony Boo qualified for the intermediate section and Zara BT and Sophie qualified for the open and open dressage to music. Gusty winds, flappy tents and flags caused some uncharacteristic tension for Boo, but with a quiet seat, cool head and soft hands, Cesca rode beautifully to finish 15th overall in a very competitive class – a super result at their first PC Nationals!
A flappy tent roof in indoor warm up also caused problems for Zara going into the open music, but moving into the indoor the familiar music brought some calming vibes and enabled Zara to finish 3rd in a super hot class! The straight open class saw a sat nav error for a 2 point deduction, but Zara still managed to secure 8th place in what was again an extremely hotly contested class. I am extremely proud of both girls who represented their club brilliantly in very competitive classes at a National final.
Thanks go to parents for making the long journey in holiday traffic and to Victoria Bailey who kept in touch via phone with words of encouragement and advice.
